Copperton Lane Antiques & Collectibles

Circa: 1939
Country of Origin: DE
Manufacturer: Pre War German Import
This type of blown silvered glass clapper bell Christmas ornament was made in both pre-war Germany and post war Western Germany. The metal caps aren't marked (and one is a replacement) so they're hard to date - either late 1930s or early 1950s.

The bells are about 2-1/4 inches high. They're decorated in earthtone colored bands of brick red and very dark green. The centers have comma stroke leaf decoration topped by tiny clear beads of Venetian dew glitter. Wavy squiggle lines decorated the tops and bottoms of the bells. Each has a wired crystal bead clapper inside. There is some typical minor finish wear, no chips or breaks.
