Manufacturer: Wileman (Shelley)
Wileman Snowdrop Petunia trio. Porcelain. England. c. 1900. Deep aqua blue at the border shades quickly to a white ground. Some of the border color seems to have been blown on and you can see speckles of the color slightly below the deeper color near the edge. Art nouveau style petunias are hand enameled in a deeper aqua. They have brown stems & green leaves hand painted over transfer. They seem to grow from the foot of the cup & the center of saucer & plate. There’s a spray of petunias hand enameled in medium green over transfer on the cup interior. Liquid gold edges & lining on handle. The cup is deeply fluted. The saucer & plate are deeply scalloped. Plate measures approximately 7.25". Could not quite capture the shade of aqua in the photos. CONDITION: Good / Very Good (wear to gilt from use - not unusual for something of this age; some light, hard to notice scratches on plate; rubbing to aqua on raised portions of plate (from use); small chip to under side of plate near rim not visible on display). Very attractive set. |
