Beautiful American Brilliant Period cut glass bowl (with heavy blank) made by Libbey glass in their "Verna" pattern. This piece is pictured on page 266 in the classic book on Libbey Glass by Fauster. In that book they have reprinted a catalogue from 1905, in which this bowl (#211) was depicted. The bowl is extremely attractive, well cut and the acid etched signature is quite visible. It has a few very very minor blemishes that are hard to see; they can be felt on the tops of a few scallops, but are not visible when viewing from the side. They can barely be seen when looking from above and are mentioned only to be precise. Some may have been done when the bowl was cut; I really can not tell. I would probably not have them polished off, but that could be done easily. The bowl does not have scratches and is really in very good condition. Diameter: 9inches; Height: 4 inches. Note: the first picture below the description is of the inside of the center of the bowl. |
