=========================================== Some Tucker History from the Net: Preston Tucker had a vision. His vision proved to be both revolutionary and controversial. The new ideas engineered into the Tucker included a rear mounted, aluminum block, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, safety inspired dashboard and windshield, and the distinctive third headlight which pivoted in the direction the car was pointed. The unique engine was originally designed for helicopter use, but was adapted quite successfully for automotive use. A Tucker was timed at over 131 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1950, quite an accomplishment for such a large vehicle with only a six-cylinder engine. Only 51 Tuckers were assembled before monetary and legal problems caused the company to cease operations. Most are still in existence and are highly prized by collectors around the world. ==========================================
