Circa: 1920's-40's Condition: Good+ Manufacturer: THE SQUARE MFG. CO. TOLEDO OHIO U.S.A.
Offering this nice clean combination square with both the solid square and protractor features! This is a rare tool, the first we have had to offer for sale! It is marked "M.A.D. MANUFACTURED BY THE SQUARE MFG. CO. TOLEDO OHIO PAT. PENDING". on the solid square beam, the same side the the protractor degree graduations are marked. The area of the angle grads is marked with one are of "DEGREES" and another area marked "INCH RISE", so there is two scales and also two indicator lines. The solid square blade is also marked with inch graduations from 0-10" on the outside, and 0-8" measurement inside or from the beam gauge edge to the end of the blade. The protractor blade can swival and slide, and the graduation scales are correctly corresponding to the degree indicated on the scale when tested. There is also a brass wing nut lock that can and will hold the setting in place when required. The combination square is in good shape overall, no rust, some pitting on the solid square blade at the 8-10" graduation area mostly, most of the grad. lines can still be seen. Made of mostly stamped steel stock, this tool is surprisingly sturdy, and has minimal wear. It is hard to tell if the steel was originally chrome plated, but there is none on it now. Looks good! |
