Circa: 1930's-40's Condition: Good++ Manufacturer: Millers Falls Millers Falls Mass. U.S.A.
This is a nice clean, ready to use Millers Falls Jack plane (comparable to the Stanley No. 5 plane in size and basic shape). This 1940's era jack plane comes with the original hardwood tote and front knob that have the black painted finish. It has no cracks and the Japanning is about 50% intact with little wear on the bare metal surfaces. The handle and knob are very nice, they are solid with just a few minor dings on each, very nice looking, neither is cracked or chipped, the paint is about 90% intact. The cap cover has black painted surface and 80% of the paint is intact on it. The blade is sharp and has little sign of use, and is marked "MILLERS FALLS SOLID TOOL STEEL MADE IN U.S.A." on it. The blade is sharp and has plenty of stock left for future sharpening. It is also marked "MADE IN U.S.A.&" behind the frog. The frog has red paint on it. The plane measures 14" long overall, and has a 2" wide cutter. The bare metal surfaces are rust free, some minor edge dings noted, but otherwise this plane shows little sign of use. Overall a very nice tool!
