This is a very clean 8" swing ratchet brace in ready to use condition! Generally the smallest swing size made by Peck, Stow, and Wilcox. It is marked "PEXTO" on the steel, and "SAMSON THE PECK, STOW, AND WILCOX CO." on the outer chuck sleeve, and 8008B on the ratchet arm, and "SAMSON" again on the end stock arm. It has some wear, a some minor dings and scratches noted on the steel, no rust, some metal staining or darkening, very clean, well cared for. Has about 25% original nickel plating intact. The chuck works very smoothly, the jaws have very minor wear, works fine, good chuck spring, a very heavy duty design! The end handle flange is ball bearing drive, very smooth and easy to turn. Features the ratchet systems with the knurled ring control, forward, reverse and lock positions all work great. The handles are made of an rosewood, very nice, has a little wear, some minor scratches, no cracks, still shiny! A good size brace for drilling holes under 3/4" diameter. It measure 13" long overall.
The SAMSON brand name was generally used by PECK, STOW, & WILCOX CO. to promote a heavy duty design, and this model is heavy duty. |
