This is a very nice clean Stanley No. 3 smooth plane from the 1910's era or a type 11 with the rosewood handle and knob, both in good shape, very clean, look nice. The cutter is marked "STANLEY NEW BRITIAN CONN. USA" on it and the toe is marked "BAILEY 3" and there is also 3 patent dates the latest in 1910. This plane is in good++ condition with about 45% of the original black Japanning intact on the bed and frog, a nicely polished cap cover. The bare metal surfaces are clean, but we do note a lightly pitted finish on the bare metal exterior. Not rusty now, very clean. The handles and castings are solid, no cracks. There is no damage noted, has a cutter marked with the STANLEY V-shaped logo on the top of the cutter. The cutter is sharp with about half it's full useable area left for future resharpening.
This is a very nice, very clean, with no rust or damage, a few minor scratches and tiny dings, on this Stanley plane in ready to display or use condition! |
