Circa: early 1900's Condition: Good++ Manufacturer: North Brothers Mfg. Co. Phila. PA
This is a very nice, clean spiral, automatic push drill w/ 8 different sized drills (from 1/16" to 11/64") that store in the handle. This model push drill features the adjustable spring tension, to assist with smaller, more fragile drill points, with less pressure on them to keep them from breakage. It is marked "YANKEE NO. 44 NORTH BROS. MFG. CO. PHILA PA U.S.A." plus various patent dates from 1896 to 1906 on the nickel plated area between the handle and the knurled nut. It measures 9.5" long overall extended without the drill bit. The steel spring type chuck and spiral system are in good working condition some wear on the spiral moving shaft due to the movement of the shaft. Nickel plating is about 90% intact, with very minimal wear. The bits are removeable, and have a .168" diameter shank, and appear to be in good useable condtion. We don't see many of these push drills with the adjustable spring action. The adjustment is at the handle cap and is released be a push slide lock on the side of the handle, it does work. The handle does open at the other end for magazine drill point storage. We do note one little dent in the handle area, doesn't effect use. A nice, clean automatic, spiral push drill, about 85% like new! This is a pre-1946 model, as North Brothers sold out in 1946. |
