This antique book cover was a souvenir of Santa Cruz California. Made of soft suede leather, the front has the phrase "Books Are Silent Friends" in a scrolling banner, with Santa Cruz Cal. at the bottom. Inside is a fringed suede bookmark reading Here's Where I Fell Asleep" attached to the upper lacing. The cover measures 8-1/2 inches high by 6-5/8" wide when folded flat. The interior page holders at the sides are 2" wide. There's some minor age wear as shown, including a 3/4 inch tear to the top right side of the bookmark.
