This large antique pendant style light fixture was designed to hang from the ceiling. Typically called a schoolhouse light, they were widely used in public buildings from the early 1900s to the 1920s. This one has a white milk glass dome shade with wide rings at the top and a button at the center bottom. The original black finish nickel fixture is present with the old waxed cloth wiring and unglazed porcelain socket.
The shade is in excellent condition with no damage. It measures 14 inches diameter by about 9 inches deep and will easily accommodate a large or oversize light bulb. The 17 inch fixture is worn with some small spatters of white paint and will need to be rewired.
