101st Airborne Operation Market Garden Tile - Netherlands WW2 Red clay tile that says -Dutch Airborne friends thankful for Freedom-. This has a paratrooper holding onto his shoot. There are other paratroopers and planes in the background. Commemorating Operation Market Garden, the tile has a windmill and an 101st Airborne shield in the foreground. Signed on back Graft Oisterwijk.

The movie Band of Brothers had a part that was dedicated to Operation Market Garden.

Measures 4 3/4 inches x 6 inches and has two factory holes at the top for hanging or mounting this interesting tile.

Hand Painted Flower Girl Tile by Mosaic This sweet little 4" square tile is hand painted and depicts a girl wearing pantaloons and carrying a bunch of blue bell type flowers in her hand. Keyport New Jersey Architectural Tile This tile was made by the Architectural Tiling Company of Keyport New Jersey – also known as ATCO. They were in business from 1912 – 1960. Measures 4 1/4" square. Transfer printed design in nice interesting colors of black, gold, blue and purple on a cream color background. Depicts a Victorian couple courting. Vintage Rocking Horse & Boy Tile by Mosaic Tile Company This vintage tile was made by the Mosaic Tile Company of Zanesville, Ohio, circa 1956. It depicts a young boy riding a rocking horse. Done in the wax resist technique, this has lovely muted shades of tan, white, green, and burgundy in semi matte glazes. The tile measures 4 1/4 inches square by itself. It is nicely mounted in a handmade solid cherry wood frame, which measures 8 3/8 inches square and is 3/4 of an inch thick. The tile has an original paper label on the back from the Mosaic factory. It is design #4308, and was made on January 18, 1956. The tile is in excellent condition, and the frame is beautiful and ready to hang. (#T1202J)

Ron Blumberg Hand Painted Tile This hand painted tile was done by Ron Blumberg. It depicts people walking down a street. The framing measures 12" square by 1 1/4" thick. The tile is approx. 6" square. Signed in the lower right "Blumberg". I believe this was done in the mid to late 1950's, as it is reminiscent of his "Pico Boulevard" painting and many others of this period of California Expressionism. In excellent condition. American Olean Cactus Tile This tile shows a cactus in the foreground and hills in the background. Done in both wax resist method and glaze painting, the detail and pooling of glazes in wonderful! Heavy red clay body - the back is marked American Olean Quarry Tile USA on the back. Measures 6" square and is 1/2" thick. In outstanding condition. A very unusual tile for American Olean - as their main production was bathroom floor and wall tile. Circa 1960's.(#3214)

Taurus Zodiac Tile by Schreckengost / Summitville Made while at Summitville Tile, this was designed by Don Schreckengost. One of his famous "sculptured Zodiac" lines of tiles - this is Taurus - the bull. Done in a gold over black glaze. Measures just over 6" square. Extreme relief - over 2" - probably the highest relief I've seen on a tile. Heavy - red clay body, inscribed Summitville on the back. Excellent condition. I have 3 other tiles in this series. Bugs Bunny Tile What a neat tile! It's Bugs Bunny dressed up in his version of Uncle Sam in red, white and blue - wearing a top hat and tuxedo and carrying a cane! Done for Marriott's Great America, this is copyrighted by Warner Brothers, Inc. and dated 1975. The ceramic tile measures 4 1/4" square, and is permanently mounted in its original metal holder, which allows the tile to stand up. Decal is done in gray, white, blue, red and yellow. Small shallow flake on the top edge - but generally in very nice condition. Great collectible item for the Bugs Bunny fan in your life! (#1812)

Pair of National Tiles - Souvenirs with Photos Two tiles made by the National Tile Company of Anderson, Indiana; one is 6" and one is 4". Richard Alexander appears to be an executive with the company! Both marked National but with different backstamps. The Christmas Greetings tile has chips on the two bottom corners, and 2 light water marks near the bottom. Larger tile is in very nice condition. Both probably circa 1950's.

Set of Commemorative Tiles - Tile Heritage Foundation Nice group of tiles made for the Tile Heritage Foundation, of Healdsburg, California - these commemorated various tile festivals and conferences over the years. The cream color tile was made in 1992 - marked Tile Art with Concept Studio. Nice palm tree with a treasure chest overflowing with bounty - done in very high relief - measures 4 1/8". The star form tile was from 1994- by Sonoma Tilemakers in Windsor, CA - nice Phoenix bird in matte glazes - measures 5 1/2" point to point. The 1993 tile is from Terra Clay - matte green glaze - 5 7/8" x 2 7/8". The fourth tile was made by Handcraft Tile of Milpitas - not dated - about 3 3/4" square. All tiles are in excellent condition. Westraven Tile May 9 1945 Hemelvaartsdag - Ascension Day May 9th, 1945 is known as Victory Day, and Victory in Europe Day (and VE Day). It's a day that many millions of people around the world remember well. This tile was made by the firm of Westraven, (Holland) to commemorate that day. Three Fantoni Style Moderne Tile Plaques Set of three lozenge shaped ceramic tiles, set into wood frames. Each frame is 13 5/8 inches long by 5 inches wide. The tiles have curved edges and measures 6.75 inches long by 2 3/8 inches wide. They are hand painted with a shiny clear glaze on top. Designs of 3 stylized women wearing fun hats. They look very much like the work of Fantoni (Italy), but are not signed. All are in excellent condition. ( T2020G )

Zanesville Ohio Tile with Woman and Parasol Made by the Standard Tile Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, circa 1930. Done in raised line technique (which looks like tube lining), this shows a woman with a great long dress, carrying a parasol and a purse. Background color is pale yellow, and the design in in white, a light blue green and black. Upper right corner has a chip, and a surface line - there is some dirt in the crazing lines.
