Wheatley Geometric Tile A 4" Wheatley tile with a "floral geometric" design the background is an off-white, the center is a light salmon color, the diamonds in the corners are a light green and the "flowers" pointing towards the corners are a light tan. The back is inscribed with the number 1129 and also impressed with WHEATLEY. Please be sure to see the other Wheatley tiles I have listed.

Wheatley Tile of a Knight A magnificent and unusual 4-1/8 inch square Wheatley tile with a Knight going right. The self framing border is a mottled gray and the horse is

white in color, the caparison ( blanket ) over the horse is a gray, the shield is a pale pea soup color, the Knights armor is gold in color.

The back is marked with factory inscribed 1001.

This tile would date to the 1920's.

This tile would be an outstanding addition to any arts and crafts home!

Batchelder Tile of a Dog Batchelder tile depicting a dog with a tree in the background. Done in classic matte finish with brown and engobe blue (in the recesses), this tile was made by Batchelder, in Los Angeles, California, circa 1920. Measuring 5 3/4" square by 3/4" thick. The tile has obviously been de-installed and has minor remains of mortar on the back. Generally in very nice condition. There are a couple of chips on the back associated with the de-installation. A nice example of California pottery and is design #25 in the Batchelder tiles catalog.

Rossman Tile of Shore Birds This 4 inch Rossman tile is in excellent condition of depicts 2 Ibis like birds, one of which is in flight and the other standing or wading. The background is a beautiful blue. The back mark is crisp with the Rossman cipher and the #1400 is impressed. The tile is 5/8ths of an inch thick

Batchelder Tile 6 inch Rampant Lion This 6 inch Batchelder tile of a standing lion dates to about 1920. The tile is 3/4 of an inch in thickness. It is design #28 in the Batchelder catalog. The upper right hand corner does have a fairly large missing piece. Framing the tile would cover this area significantly. There are remnants of mortar on the back of the tile. I have tiles from this de-installation and where visible the back mark is Batchelder Los Angeles. This tile came from a home in Jacksonville, Florida

Cambridge Wheatley Rooster Tile This 4 inch Cambridge Wheatley Rooster tile has a pale blue gray background with a pale yellow border. The Rooster is the same color as the border. The tile is just shy of 3/4 of an inch in thickness. There is a chip out of the back that does not effect the display of the front. The back has 1090 with an X below scribed into the back. This tile is shown on Page 39 of the Cambridge - Wheatly Catalog. Circa 1930

Batchelder Viking Ship 6" Tile This wonderful Batchelder Tile of a Viking ship is very nice condition and displays very well and would be considered self framed. The background is a light engobe blue. It is design #34 in the Batchelder Tiles catalog. The back does have remnants of mortar and some visibility of the back mark. I have others of these tiles and they are marked Batchelder Los Angeles. This tile came from a home in Jacksonville, Florida ( T3901J )

Calco Pillow Tile 6 of 8 Great large pillow tile made by Calco (California Clay Products) in South Gate, between 1923 - 1933. Measures 7 7/8" x 3 5/8". These tiles are very similar to the pillow (aka pillowed) tiles made by Malibu Potteries in the same time frame. High mottled brown glaze - raised lozenge on the surface - rounded edges and corners. Fabulous for a pool - or another great project! In very nice condition. (#T-1165)

Santa Monica Tile (Taylor) - Whimsical Bird #1 Great whimsical dodo bird type beast on this vintage tile made by Taylor Tilery, of Los Angeles, California. This is a part of their line of Santa Monica Tiles. Done on a white clay dust pressed blank, they called these "novelty inserts" in one of their trade catalogs. Really attractive glaze colors of muted green, blue, salmon, and gold. Measures 4 1/4" square - circa 1930. In excellent condition. (#3164)
