T1201V

8-1/2" Franklin Cowboy on Horseback Leading Foal Tile - Mountains - Desert A great self framed tile made by Franklin Tile of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Tile has Cowboy on Horseback leading a foal, in the background there are mountains, in the foreground is a cactus and more of what looks to be a desert scene. The tile measures 8-1/2 " square and is 3/8" in thickness. The back is the classic Franklin and has what appears to be the factory numeric marks of C-501 with a side ways S ( see photo ). Click for more detail...

X1007

Art Pottery Figural Fountain Spout This fabulous and unusual figural fountain spout is done in the design of head of a seal or sea lion. It's done in a rich dark brown to black glaze. The squared base of the spout measures 5 3/4" square and is between 3/4" - 7/8" thick. The relief is extraordinary – 4" high.

Although unmarked, this was most certainly made by a high quality Arts & Crafts Movement pottery / tile company. The clay was hand worked on the interior to help create the opening for the water. The work is good enough to have come from the Mueller Mosaic Tile Company.

There are quite a few glaze flakes on the seal and the base. That said – it is still a wonderful example of a whimsical spout. What a great addition to your garden! (X1007)

Click for more detail...

3264

Alhambra Kilns Pelican Tile 1926 - 1937 A wonderful 3-1/2" Pelican tile done by Alhambra Kilns of Santa Monica 1926 - 1937. Tile is in good condition, nice glaze colors and a good pressing. Looks like a yellow glaze dripped from another tile above in the firing process and hit the edge. Just below that yellow drip on the edge there is a chip, my guess would be that the yellow formed a "globe" and was probably removed at the factory.
The back mark is hard to read due to some adhesive that is on the back, but portions can be made out.
Tile is 5/8" thick
