Manufacturer: tile company
For pottery collectors, the subject matter of this tile just doesn’t get any better! Shows a young boy hugging and kissing a large pot. Done in a blue to bluish green majolica glaze - this oval tile would probably have been originally used for ornamentation in a parlor stove. Dating from circa 1890, this is molded in extremely high relief. Country of origin not known, but probably English. Measures 8" x 4 ¾". Back side has chipping. There is a crack which extends down from his front foot to the tile edge, runs horizontally then goes back up near his other foot. The front surface and relief work are in excellent condition.
