Manufacturer: as described
This self framed large panel has a scene with seven cherubs playing musical instruments. There's a cello, several violins, a xylophone, a flute, a horn, and a singer. This is meant to imitate a tropical atmosphere - see the bamboo or palm type vegetation and the beads around the neck of one cherub. The molded design uses an effective combination of low, medium and very high reliefs. Made in Germany, by Mugeln, this was part of a German stove panel, circa 1880 - 1890. There is a factory repaired chip on the right edge, and two very small chips (colored in) on the self framing edge. This has a very attractive medium brown majolica glaze. This large panel measures 16 1/2" long by 9 3/4" wide by just shy of 1" thick. In extremely nice condition. (#T1096)
