Circa: 1910 Manufacturer: LA Pressed Brick
This gorgeous tile panel depicts putti (aka cherubs) playing musical instruments and dancing. Done in a reddish brown glaze, they called this a vellum glaze. The cherubs are in low relief. The panel measures 9 3/4" x 5". The tile panel is set into an older solid wood frame that measures 12 3/4" x 8 1/2".
LA Pressed Brick tiles are rare and hard to come by. The company was in business from 1887 – 1926. The decorative tile production began in 1907. Fred H. Roberston was one of the main designers of their decorative tile. The tile has had a professional and invisible restoration. The tile is clearly marked on the back with not only the LAPB mark, but also with an impressed F.H.R. - for Fred H. Roberston. A great piece to add to your Arts & Crafts Movement tile or pottery collection. (#T-2042)
