This is an outstanding example of the tile work done by San Jose Pottery in San Antonio, Texas. This very nice and large tile measures 8 inches square and is 1/2 inch thick. The scene depicted is a cock fight. Shown in the scene are three men wearing colorful clothing and donning sombreros. They are watching two cocks fighting. There is a large cactus in the right background and another palm type plant on the left side. This is done in wonderful vibrant glaze colors of yellow/ brown/black/orange/turquoise/blue/white/sand - 8 glaze colors!
Back has a felt covering.
Generally this is in excellent condition. Dating to circa 1930-1940. A fabulous example to go nicely with a tile or pottery collection! (#T1093)
