Manufacturer: Taylor, Smith & Taylor
Very pretty vintage light pink Lu-ray Pastels oval open vegetable serving bowl in their about 10 1/4 inch size. Has molded handles at each end. Fully marked on underside base as made by Taylor, Smith & Taylor with "T. S. & T. Lu-ray Pastels U.S.A. 940". There is also an impressed "5" on the underside base.
This old bowl measures about 10 1/4 inches long x 7 1/2 inches wide and sits about 2 inches in height. We've provided 7 images to show details and close-up of the manufacturer mark. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely and note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spots" on the glossy surfaces. This vintage bowl weighs about 17 1/2 ounces or slightly over 1 pound unpacked
Very nice, very usable condition, but not mint. This vintage piece came out of an older home where it was used. While you can't see this from the topside, there is a tiny chip on the underside at the end of one of the handles (this chip measures slightly less than 1/8 inch in greatest width, it is roughly oval in shape, we've provided a close-up in the last image but of course that makes it seem much larger than in person). There is a black mark you can see on the topside, again measuring about 1/8 inch greatest measurement (kind of an open type mark, this might be able to be removed with some scrubbing/Soft Scrub, but we're not sure, we did only a light wash). There are no other chips, cracks, crazing or dark utensil marks. There are some pin/pit/tiny dark dots in the surface glazing on the topside and bottom side, and many tiny light scratches on the topside in the bowl from serving use (you don't see these unless you go looking holding this bowl at an angle in bright light). There is some other light use/wear dots/spots, etc., as to be expected with an older used piece, but this really has lasted well.
Still a very usable piece which would look fine on display or when used in serving food, to add to your Lu-ray china collection. |
