Manufacturer: Vintage Cookie Cutters
This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a red wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1940s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a 5 pointed star. It measures about 2 3/4 inches in greatest length and width, and sits about 1 3/4 inches in height to the top of the wood handle.
The wood handle is firmly attached to the aluminum part (there is no "play" to this handle vs. the base as seen with some of the other cookie cutters). The outer edges of the cutter are vertically ridged or have a tight scalloping.
This old cookie cutter came out of a home and was likely used, but is in great shape for its age. There are no large dents, cracks or chips here. With this old cookie cutter, while the aluminum area around the base of the handle is slightly indented, with this one it could be as made. The topside aluminum is not flat across, but curves slightly upwards towards the points. It is possible this is due to pressure use with the handle when cutting cookies, but to us we are not sure and it looks normal. This vintage piece immediately sits flat when placed on a table. You can see this slight center aluminum indent when viewing from the underside, but it looks very evenly done, which adds to our belief that this is as manufactured. The aluminum does show age/use/wear via lots of scratches, rubbed spots, some pin dots/pit dots, some darkened spots, some white/lite spotting on the underside, other expected general wear. The red wood handle shows expected wear including small scratches/indents and rubbed/wear spots on the sides, many tiny dark or discoloration dots on/near the handle top, some paint flaking (not bad), etc. Nothing unexpected here and all adds to the used look that supports the age.
Fun cookie cutter that would make a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with red wood handles. With the holes in the aluminum top, a crafty person could also string wire and hang this as an ornament on a Christmas tree as a fun addition.
Please note that we have other cookie cutters and many other kitchen items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you). |
