Manufacturer: Acrylic Unicorn Napkin Rings
A great gift for the unicorn lover, a vintage set of unicorn napkin rings in its original box out of a home. This set of 4 clear napkin rings comes in its yellowed/aged clear plastic box with internal felt type separator piece to keep all four pieces safely stored.
Box lid states these are Clear Acrylic Unicorn Napkin Ring (no "s"), but from some internet research we believe these may also be referred to as Lucite napkin rings. We have also seen these referred to as bearded unicorns from the molded hair piece hanging down beneath their snouts (similar to what is seen on some goats). The unicorn "horns" on these animal napkin rings are particularly nicely done with a molded swirl ridged pattern. From the style and popularity of unicorn items in the 1970s/1980s, we believe these are vintage pieces dating to the late mid century period.
Original box measures about 5 5/8 inches x 6 1/8 inches and sits 3/16 inch in height. Each unicorn napkin ring sits great on a table, with a flat underside, sitting about 2 3/4 inches in height, about 2 3/4 inches in width, and about 3/4 inch in depth. The napkin rings are each very light weight, weighing about one ounce each, with the full box weighing about 5 1/2 ounces unpacked. These would be shipped in a box for safety.
Very nice vintage used condition, ready to use and enjoy, with no chips, cracks, crazing, pieces missing on the napkin rings. On close inspection in bright light, you can see use/wear scratches on these, primarily near the bases but with stray scratches sometimes appearing elsewhere, with the amount varying by napkin ring, but these do not detract from the great overall clear, smooth look to these napkin rings. Nothing really bad, and you won't see this in use or on display, but you should know these are there. Sometimes some of the molded edges appear a little sharp to the fingertip as made (such as on unicorn horn points, ears, etc., but we don't see any tiny flakes/chips, if we are missing any they are very, very tiny).
For the box, you can see in the images that this is old looking, the plastic has yellowed with age, and is misshapen in spots (side edges are not straight lines). One box lid corner is split/torn along the edge seam, the other corner edges on top and bottom are fine. There are remains of tape on the box, and it is a bit dusty/dirty, but the box itself and the inner red divided storage piece have survived well for their age. Please examine the images closely, using the zoom feature.
