Manufacturer: Vintage Wood Toys
Fun find out of a home. This is an all wood vintage pull toy, a four piece pull train with locomotive and three open box cars. From the bright colors and open top box cars, we think this was meant to be a circus train. Children can add their own toy animals to the box cars, such as plastic dinosaurs, zoo animals, etc., or anything else which will fit that they want to pull around in the train.
We are not sure of the age here as there is no manufacturer or country of origin marking. Our guess is that this dates to the 1970's or 1980's, but it could be slightly older or newer, we can't know.
The four pieces are connected via the original yellow cord with its original red wood bead for holding onto at the end. In between the three box cars there is also an oval red bead (two beads here). When pulling, the four pieces will sit directly behind each other, but the yellow pull cord is loose enough and long enough that when just sitting and being played with, the pieces can be separated or stretched out much further, as you can see in the images.
When the four pieces are next to each other, this measures about 22 inches in length. From the front of the locomotive (when the four pieces are sitting next to each other) the cord stretches another 27 inches long, so there is plenty of cord for the child to run and move and pull this behind them. The greatest height to the pieces is about 4 3/4 inches (for the box car trimmed in green), with the greatest width or depth of about 2 1/4 inches. As this is made of solid wood, this vintage toy weighs slightly over 2 pounds unpacked and will be shipped in a box for safety.
Great condition. This was likely played with and used, but it has no major use wear such as chips, cracks, etc. There is expected minor wear, including a few colored spots, some touches of paint wear to the blue and green boxcar top railings and likely other wear, but nothing to worry about here. All wheels roll just fine and pulls great.
Please examine the images closely, using the zoom feature. A vintage toy ready to display or use and have fun with. |
