Wonderful find out of a home. This is a Vera Bradley shoulder bag or purse or hand bag in what we believe they called their Molly style. It is in a retired pattern from Fall 2004, Vibrant Black, which has a strong black background on which appears multi-colored flowers, particularly within a broad band trim around the base of the purse.
This appears to have been never used as it still has attached one of the original Vera Bradley hang tags and inside still has the original card which advises that the bag has a solid base which should be removed prior to washing (with the base itself also still present), so we would call this a New with Tags or NWT piece.
This Molly shoulder bag can sit upright on the base for loading, with a height to the bag itself of about 7 inches, width of about 9 3/4 inches and depth of about 2 1/2 inches. The top strap is fully attached and not adjustable, with a close to the shoulder hanging depth. When hanging by the strap, from the top of the strap to the bottom of the bag, the hanging length is about 15 inches. The empty bag unpacked weighs slightly over 5 ounces and will be shipped in a sleeve within a cardboard box for protection.
The fabric vintage purse has a top zipper closure for the main bag, with an outer open pocket on one side of the hand bag. Within the purse is one large central compartment, with a smaller zipper pocket on one interior side. Both the outer and inner zippers have fabric pull tabs or knotted fabric pieces to use. On the inside is the Vera Bradley name fabric tag, with the reverse side stating 100% Cotton, with the washing instructions: Machine Wash Cool, Gentle Cycle, Do Not Bleach, Line Dry. Under this it states, Made in U.S.A. The inside also has the removable stiff bottom base piece, as well as the instruction card regarding removing this base prior to washing.
Attached to the handle by a green rope is the original green and white Vera Bradley folded hang tag. This is an advertising piece tag, with pictures and words regarding other Vera Bradley items on the inside, the website address on the backside of the tag card and the Vera Bradley name on the front side. This Vera Bradley card was ripped at one point near the hole for the green rope, with the rip projecting into the card and clear tape having been applied by the prior owner to the top of the card to keep it attached to the rope. An extra piece of plastic is also still attached here, which we think once had the price tag, but that is no longer present.
This Vera Bradley shoulder bag itself is in lovely overall condition, with no rips, stains or major flaws. We do note that the fabric pull tabs for the two zippers have some slight fraying at their fabric cut ends as does happen over time even if just left in storage, but you could either recut the ends of these pulls or stitch them to give them a cleaner look if you wished, we are selling as is/as found.
