Circa: 1885
Manufacturer: Ripley
Made by Ripley & C0. C. 1885. 6"diameter. Outer rim features the alphabet. The plate's center has an elephant with a howdah carrying 3 riders, the forward rider appears to be carrying an American flag. In this pressing the glass for the center mold did not fully extend to the edges so it appears incomplete on the upper right and center left edges. A shear mark or "straw" mark on the back runs from the elephant's eye to the front of the howdah. No chips or cracks. (6478)
