More Than McCoy

Circa: 1948
Manufacturer: American Bisque
Vintage American Bisque Sears Strawberry cookie jar. The book refers to it as the Sears jar. This is being sold as a collectible display item only because I did not make it and I don't know if it was made with anything harmful in it. It is a large, heavy duty strawberry with incised mark: Sears Exclusively USA Patent Pending. It was made by Am. Bisque and sold by Sears in 1948. It has a tight hairline on underside of lid, see photo 8, but has no other chips or cracks. Most of the cold paint is missing, but these can be redone if you use the original paint coloring. If you are crafty, this is an easy project; or you can take it to a ceramic shop and they can update it. These oldies are not for food use, just for use as collectible display. If you redo it, just wear gloves and mask; use paint remover in the garage; the remaining paint should come off easily. Then redo with red, green and white. Or, take it to a ceramacist shop and have them refurbish it. The Am. Bisque book shows this cookie jar so you can use that as your guide, see photo. This is the only fruit cookie jar Am. Bisque made. Other cookie jars books also show this jar. 5/16
