Circa: 1874, 1891
Manufacturer: Ripley
I’ve always called this Mascotte, made by Ripley & Co., ca 1874, USG 1891. Apparently it is also called Dakota, one of the USG states patterns, also made by Ripley. It has a bulbous center with thumbprint designs around the lid and base, and the Mascotte squares around the neck. The inner lid is manufacturer ground. There are 2 flakes of about ½ inch on the top sharp edge of the lid, not very obvious at display distance (see close-ups of both). Only light scratches, but no graying of the glass. Appears to have been made with a wafer, since mold lines do not line-up between the bowl and the base. Very cute and unusual small size, measuring only 9 ½ inches to the top of the lid and 4 inches across the base. This has been in my family for more than 50 years, having been rescued from an old house.
