This is a very nice solid hardwood (looks like hard Maple) mortar and pestle.  The pestle and mortar are both nicely lathe turned, with some wear on the contact areas, but overall in very good condition.  The pestle is 7.8" long, and the mortar is 4.6" diameter x 4.7" tall.  The inside bowl has been cleaned and treated with olive oil, the exterior has been polished with bee's wax.  The exterior has some remains of a maple color paint or stain, much of it has worn off, but some remains intact.  A nice looking antique!
