More Than McCoy

Circa: 1800's
Manufacturer: unknown
Six antique pewter coasters. A bit larger than a regular coaster so not sure what they were for. On frontside are two leopards flanking a crown and shield with banner under this. Banner reads: Nobilitatis Character Virtus Non Stemma, (translates to 'Virtue, Not Pedigree is the Mark of Nobility'). Backsides have 2 touchplates: Fin over GB over Fin, which I believe 'fin' is Swedish for pewter but I could be wrong, with another touchplate of two animals flanking the crown and shield with F inside, over FIN. Some of these are in fairly good antique condition; one is very worn. The stand they are in looks like someone may have made it to display them in; and it needs to be repainted black. These are a tad over 3.75 wide. A cool addition to your pewter collection! 8/10scsr
