Copperton Lane Antiques & Collectibles

Circa: 1957
Country of Origin: US
Manufacturer: Shiny Brite
This boxed set of Shiny Brite glass Christmas ornaments is from the late 1950s to early 1960s. Eight are large, about 3 inches diameter, four are a bit smaller at around 2-3/4". They have color bands of green, magenta red, silver, and gold and are decorated with thick white and colored mica glittered flowers, comma-stroke leaves, and wavy rings or stripes.

The ornaments all have finish wear and mica glitter loss. Some have a semi-transparent look from age deterioration of the inner silvering. None have any breaks or chips. The classic old Uncle Sam and Santa Shiny Brite box (probably not original to the ornaments) has split lid corners and tape residue but the box bottom is intact. Though the ornaments aren't new looking any more, it's hard to find a full set of this type in the larger 3 inch size.
