Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: early 1900's
Condition: Good+
Manufacturer: Bridgeport Hardware Mfg. Corp. U.S.A.
This is a clean, useable, wire cutter, combination lath hatchet and nail/lathe puller.  It is marked "BRIDGEPORT HARDWARE PAT. APPL'D FOR MADE IN BRIDGEPORT CONN U.S.A." and some other hard to see lettering and logo marks.  On the other side is marked "HAND FORGED".  The hatchet head cutting edge is 3.1" wide and the overall of this tool is 12.5" long.  There is some dings and wear noted on the nail puller.  There appears to be an original gap that looks like a small crack in line with the forge shaping of the V of the nail holder.  But it is very solid and useable in this case.  The wood handle sections are in great shape, well attached nice finish.  This hatchet has a good balance feel in hand, the steel is of great quality and the cutting edge last under normal use on hard or soft woods.  We do not a few small dings on the cutting edge, but otherwise it is very sharp and ready to use.
