VICTORIAN GLASS PLUS!

Circa: 1850
Several years ago I bought 4 famous harbor or waterway prints, intending to hang them in my living room. Somehow they got misplaced and they never were hung. I just found all 4 in a nice tight plastic box where they’ve been for over 20 years. This is definitely not my area of prime interest or expertise, but I think that all 4 prints are beautiful, interesting period views, and obviously not color-damaged or faded from exposure.
As far as I can determine, all are antique line engravings which were hand tinted, ca 1850-1855. Although not super large, they present quite a bit of detail, and are in very good condition; all have antique lined, cream colored matting and custom quality framing wood, each a little different. There are 2 frames of the same size, and the other 2, slightly smaller are similar in size. All have paper backing and a wire for hanging.

The first is Boston from Roxbury, ca 1850.
Overall frame is 14 ¼ x 12 ¼ inches, the same size as the New York print; antique red-gold washed frame; triple-lined cream mat with one stripe of pale yellow; plain glass is intact.

The image predominates with green grass, puffy clouds, with a sliver of blue water towards the center; there is a cow in the foreground, a long fence, an arbor, and wonderfully detailed buildings, mostly in tan-light red coloring. A mosque, or possibly a capitol building is noted in the far distance. This main colored section measures 7 ¾ x 5 5/8 inches.

There is an area of white around the main picture, where Boston, from Roxbury is printed underneath, and J.R.Smith.del is seen in the left lower corner, and Carter, Andrews & Co. SC is seen in the right lower corner, both under a fine double black line and in very tiny print. This white-bordered area measures
9 7/32 x 7 ½ inches.

There is slight distress to the mat in the lower right section, and what appears to be some hint of crumpling in the upper part of the picture, seen when you hold it tangentially to light. There is no apparent foxing or mildew that I can discern, but possibly some fingerprint smudging. All of this is very subtle.
