War Between the States

Born in Prussia, he was the son of the Prussian Minister of War. He enlisted on Sept. 30, 1861, and was commissioned lieutenant colonel, U.S. Volunteers Aide-De-Camp. He served on the staff of General George B. McClellan, 1861-62, and with the Army of the Potomac, until his muster out of service, July 12, 1865.

Wet plate, albumen carte de visite photograph, mounted to 2 3/8 x 4 card. Bust view pose. No imprint. Inscription on the reverse, Count Paul Radowitz, A.D.C., U.S.A. Army of Potomac. Light age toning and wear. Very fine. Scarce.
