1992 Major League Baseball All Star Game San Diego Bat Key Chain Ring
A vintage sports memorabilia item commemorating the 1992 Major League Baseball All Star Game which was held in San Diego, CA. This is a miniature wood bat key ring or key chain.
We actually picked up 5 of these identical key chains out of the same home. The price is for one key ring only. If you are interested in more than one, please e-mail prior to submitting the order. The system will not automatically provide you with the cost savings you should get from shipping more than one in the same package. We would be pleased to handle that for you.
The wood bat measures 3 15/16 inches in length with a greatest width/depth of about 5/8 inch. When the metal ring and chain are fully stretched out, this measures about 6 inches in length. This vintage key chain weighs about 1/2 ounce unpacked.
Made of natural wood with an overall light tan color. There is dark blue stamping in two places on one side (the back side of the bat is plain wood). Near the thick end of the bat is stamped the All-Star Game logo with San Diego Padres 1992. In the middle of the bat is the Major League Baseball stamp with Cooperstown MLB 1989 at the top. The thick bottom end of the bat has a pattern impressed in the wood. We don't know if this was decorative or relates to how these pieces were made (this pattern could indicate how the wood was held on the forming machine while the bat shape was being carved).
We've provided 8 images including one with a quarter for size comparison. The last image shows all 5 bat key chains but again, the price is for only one key ring. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth wood surface. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.
Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or major issues. There is natural variation to the light wood coloring across the 5 pieces, with some showing darker browns spots, areas or lines. There is also variation to the dark blue stamping. All are fully readable, but some are stamped lighter or darker, some have some unevenness to the blue ink or blue smudging, etc., as normally occurs across manufactured pieces. A few of the key chains do have some dark/black smudges, spots or lines (one has a light black horizontal line on the wood below the All-Star Game logo that is about 1 1/8 inch in length) which may have occurred in manufacturing or could be evidence of some wear, storage wear, etc., although these don't look like they were used to us. Nothing to worry about here.
A neat addition to any vintage baseball collectibles grouping or a sports memorabilia collection related specifically to All-Star games.

1898 Naval Ship Print, USS Boston, USS San Francisco, U.S. Navy
Original book page with what we believe to be photos, from "The Battle with Spain", published by New York Monthly Company, New York in 1898. Not a reproduction, but old page from an antique issue of this book (we guarantee this), with an antique print on each side of the page; on one side it's the Protected Cruiser Boston, with the other the Protected Cruiser San Francisco.
The vintage book showed pictures of naval vessels, navy ships, battleships, cruisers, gunboats, etc., which were part of the U.S. Navy at the time of the war with Spain (or the Spanish American war, the one with "Remember the Maine!"). While no copyright date appears on the book pages, on the Boston picture there is a copyright line, "Copyright, 1891, J. S. Johnston, N.Y." There is also a paragraph describing each ship under it's picture.
Excellent overall condition black & white pictures, on full page measuring about 13 inches wide x 11 inches high. In one corner there is a tear or piece missing, measuring about 2/8 inch high x 3/16 inch wide. There are no other tears, major bending, or yellowing. There is other very minor page or corner edge wear and expected handling wear for a book page (no large creases, but the little within-the-page handling bumps or small creases that you see from a page being handled or turned within a book; we judge that this would not be noticeable framed). There is also the expected uneven edge where the page was taken from the book.
The book covers were in very bad shape, so we removed the good pages and are selling them separately. A terrific piece to add to a collection related to the Spanish American War, the 1898 War, or a collection relating in general to the U.S. Navy or US Navy Vessels, Ships, Battleships, Warships, etc.

Antique 1885 Book Print Yosemite Valley, National Park California
Neat original book illustration from 1885 edition of Picturesque Tours in America, the Junior United Tourist Club, edited by the Rev. Edward T. Bromfield, published by R. Worthington, NY. The date does not appear on-page but was present on the book's title page from which this came and we guarantee the age and what this is. The book was not in good shape so the good pages/book prints were removed and are being sold individually. Please see our other listings for the other pages available.
Measures about 7 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches. This page has a picture on one side with book copy/words on the other side. The picture is labelled at the bottom, "The Yosemite Valley" which we believe to possibly be a view within Yosemite National Park in California (CA). It is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a lovely mountain view with trees and foliage. We have provided two images of the book page picture, as best we could show it. Please note that the page is not "brown" as it seems to appear in the close-up picture. Sometimes to get the close-up details to be better visible we had to turn off the camera light (as it created too many white "hot spots" on the page in close-up mode). This permitted seeing close-up details but makes the overall page look falsely brown due to insufficient lighting.
While this piece is still in usable condition for matting and framing, you need to know that this page has a diagonal tear which, from the topside of the mountain image edge, extends into the image itself, measuring in total about 1 7/8 inches long on the diagonal. There is also a second much smaller tear on the page side only in the white margin area, about 5/8 inch in length, and a third tear right along the bottom edge starting at the right corner in the white margin area, also about 5/8 inch in length. The page has likely darkened over time, with some browning at outer edges and also has a bit of onpage creasing. At least one page edge has been trimmed where it was removed from the book.

Neat original book illustrations from 1885 edition of Picturesque Tours in America, the Junior United Tourist Club, edited by the Rev. Edward T. Bromfield, published by R. Worthington, NY. The date does not appear on-page but was present on the book's title page from which these came. Measure about 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. We have listed here 6 of the two-sided prints or pages from the book, some having a second separate full page print on the other side, others having book copy. Excellent condition for age. Pages have likely darkened over time, with some browning at outer edges. Varying by page, there also can be some minor small spotting in the margin areas and margin or corner creasing, tiny margin edge tears and at least one page edge has been trimmed where it was removed from the book.
