Parrots Cockatoo Artisan Handmade Dyed Mother of Pearl Shell Earrings
Fun pair of pierced earrings which look to us like they were Artisan Handmade (hand made) pieces. These are shaped to be birds, which we think are parrots or cockatoos (we are not bird experts). The birds are made of individually cut and fitted pieces of Mother of Pearl shell, some of which we think have been dyed so these are multi-colored earrings with hues of natural white/opal, beige, light and dark brown, green and pink. There are a few pieces of natural gray abalone shell used here. A touch of black outlining is used to create dot eyes and some black lines defining the beaks. There are a few carved lines on the bird bodies and pink feathers on their heads (these pink areas also have some yellow hues within them).
The Mother-of-Pearl or MOP shell pieces appear to be cemented onto some sort of ceramic, stone or other material backing that is a solid beige in color. While we got these out of a home so we know they are not brand new, we are not certain of the age here. There is no indication of who made these, with no artisan name nor manufacturer stamp, nor anything showing where these were made.
These vintage earrings measure about 2 inches in length and about 1 inch greatest width. They are light-weight, weighing 0.34 of an ounce, so these shouldn't feel heavy on the ears.
We've provided 8 images to show from varied angles, one with a quarter for size comparison, and some close-ups. Given the smooth polished surfaces here, these were very difficult to shoot as the camera light caused many white "hot spot" reflections, which is why many images are shot at an angle to try and reduce these hot spots. If you look across the varied images you should be able to see all parts of these earrings without the reflections. You will see in the images that there is one small shell piece on the left earring that appears horizontally half brown/half beige. This is not chipped, it is how this was made, we're not sure if this is all shell here or if the artist used a small piece of shell then filled in with the backing material, but the topside is smooth like the remainder of the earring. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.
Very nice condition ready to wear and enjoy with no shell pieces missing, smooth and polished surface. In some places there may be a bit of unevenness to the edges due to how these natural shell pieces were cut to fit. On the right earring on the dark gray abalone piece there is a darker irregular spot at the top right which is indented. To us this looks like natural variation/surface irregularity as one sees in shells, with this area still largely smooth like the other shell pieces, so we don't think this is a chip that happened later but we don't know that for certain (we don't find this a problem). With normal eyes we don't see wear to the topside of these earrings, but looking very closely with a loupe there is expected minor surface use/storage wear, such as some scratches, scuffs, dots/pin or pit dots, etc., but nothing to worry about. The backsides also appear clean and in good condition, with one earring having what we think is an ink pen line on it, not sure why (you can see this pen line in the backside image).
A set of eye-catching earrings for any bird lover, particularly one who enjoys parrots and cockatoos. Also a neat addition to any jewelry collection of items made from mother-of-pearl or shell, or natural substances in general.

Vintage Costume Jewelry, Pair Pierced Earrings Drop 14K GF Loops O
Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced drop earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking). The ear loops on both earrings are labelled 14K GF for 14K Gold Filled, however the other metal you will see on the earrings in the images we do not believe is gold or gold filled, just the loops which go through the ears. Nifty look to these earrings which could be artist designed handmade from the look, but we don't know that for certain. Consist of a double drop, first having a dark blue bead and the lower drop made of some sort of celluloid, plastic or rubber type material (we don't know what this is, but not metal here), which is a large ball with smaller circles affixed to it on 4 sides. Full drop earring measures about 2 inches in length from top of the ear loop or about 1 1/2 inches in length from the bottom of loop and about 5/8 inch in greatest width. Normal used condition with some wear on the blue beads and perhaps elsewhere but nothing bad or would be seen when worn. Vintage Costume Jewelry, Pair Pierced Earrings Drop Nautical S
Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced drop earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking), which are very light in weight and appear to be made of some sort of gold tone metal (not real gold) and plastic. They have large circular loops made of metal onto which dangling lower is either a gold colored ship's anchor or ship's wheel, each made of a light metal or plastic. Plastic white beads and blue & white striped beads accentuate the earrings, with three beads on each loop and one blue striped bead dangling beneath the anchor or captain's wheel.
In total from the top of the loop these measure about 2 3/4 inches in length and 1 1/8 inch in greatest width. Great used condition with a touch of tarnishing or spotting on the anchor, ship's wheel and loops, but not bad, and likely having some other normal wear (scratches, etc.) on the beads that we don't see, but nothing to worry about here. Nifty nautical themed jewelry which would be a terrific complement to any boating outfit or fun to wear to any summer beach, pool, cruise, sailing, or water-related party or event.

Vintage Costume Jewelry, Pair Pierced Earrings Hearts G
Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking), appear to be made of a gold-toned metal (not real gold) in a heart shape, which has been ornately designed with three reticulations or openings in the metal and a raised circular bump décor. In the centers are an oval multi-colored piece with a neat look kind of like an opal, but we do not believe these are opals, just costume jewelry décor, but giving this a terrific appearance. One piece construction measuring about 7/8 inch in length and just under 7/8 inch in greatest width. Normal used condition likely having some wear but nothing jumps out at us and there are no major flaws. Vintage Costume Jewelry, Pair Pierced Earrings Silver-tone Pearl K
Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking), appear to be made of some sort of light silver-colored light-weight metal (not real silver or sterling), kind of an elongated diamond in shape, that has scroll work design on the metal and a pearl-type piece at the center. We do not believe this to be a real pearl but a costume one, which accentuates the scrollwork nicely, giving these earrings an elegant look. One piece construction measuring about 1 inch in length (from the top of the curved piece which goes through the ear) and a bit over 1/2 inch in greatest width. Normal used condition with some wear but no major flaws. We note that there is some dark/black spotting on the front-side metal near some of the edges, but don't know if this is a bit of dirt/wear or how it was made (there is also some spotting/tarnish on the backside). Vintage Costume Jewelry, Pair Pierced Drop Earrings India I
Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer marking) that were made in India with label stating this on the backside of one piece. Appear to be made of a thin metal, consisting of two pieces, the top piece tear drop shape and the bottom oval. There is a squiggly or snake like metal decor attached center topside of each piece. The top piece has a muted purplish color with the lower oval a muted turquoise color, with each also decorated with gold-tone spattering. Measuring about 1 7/8 inches in length and about 9/16 inch in greatest width. Normal used condition likely with some wear but nothing jumps out at us and no major flaws. Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking). These are dangle drop earrings made of red and silver-tone beads (not sterling silver). We believe the red beads are plastic and the silver-tone beads are metal. Measure about 1 7/16 inches long, about 3/16 inch in width. Very light in weight so easy on the ears. Very nice overall condition. There is a bit of darkening on the lower silver-tone ball beads, but you need to look closely to notice this, nothing that would be seen when worn.

Vintage Costume Jewelry, Pair Red Bead Dangle Pierced Earrings B
Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking). These are dangle drop earrings which we think are made of plastic, consisting of a brass/gold-colored (not real gold) large loop from which dangles a deep red or maroon bead capped above and below with gold-tone pieces and having a small blue bead underneath. Measure about 2 inches long, about 13/16 inch greatest width (the width of the loop). Very light in weight so easy on the ears. Excellent condition. There could be a touch of wear since these pieces were used/worn but nothing is jumping out at us and there's nothing to worry about here. We've provided 6 images to show from differing angles.

Vintage Costume Jewelry, Pair Faux Pearl & Metal Pierced Earrings
Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking). These are made of metal (a magnet does stick to these) in a circular design with a flower at the top having a faux pearl as its center. The metal has been decorated with light blue paint or enameling (we are not sure which) that has specks of light pink in it. We think the base metal is gold-colored (not real gold) and the décor has been done in such a way to purposely show/uncover some of the gold throughout. So while the predominant color is light blue, it appears as having flecks of light pink and gold, highlighted by the sheen of the faux pearl. An elegant looking pair that would add class to any outfit!
Measures about 1 1/16 inches greatest width x 1 5/16 inches in length. We've provided 4 images, shot with differing lighting on differing backgrounds as it was hard to capture these on film. They will look even more impressive in person than they do in the images. Excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, breaks, pieces missing. While these were likely worn/used, and may have some minor wear, we just don't see anything jumping out at us and there is nothing to worry about here. Not heavy to wear, each earring weighs under 1/4 ounce.

Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking), appear to be made of some sort of thin gold-colored metal (not real gold), elongated oval in shape, that has been slightly curved backwards. There are two raised curved lines in the metal which create a stripe/band, with the top edges of this metal left gold-colored and two colors of red enamel covering the remainder of the top side surface. One piece construction measuring about 1 1/2 inches in length and about 3/4 inch greatest width. Normal used condition with some slight small scratches/wear but no major flaws. There is some spotting/pitting on the backside of these earrings (a lot more on one of them than the other). Vintage costume jewelry out of an older home. Unsigned pair of pierced earrings (no manufacturer or country of origin marking), appear to be made of some sort of metal or celluloid or plastic (we can't tell for sure, but has a nice solid feel), circular in shape with a raised center section and a rich, deep gray color. Each earring actually consists of two pieces as you can see in two of the images, which are fitted together but can be taken apart. The smaller center piece does have a metal backing. The largest circular piece has a diameter measuring about 13/16 inch. Normal used condition with some scratches and wear but no major flaws.
