13132

1930s Tube Mercury Table Tennis Balls This tube of six Mercury brand table tennis or ping pong balls is from the 1930s. The label states they were officially approved by the U.S.T.T.A. (United States Table Tennis Association) and produced according to their specifications. The balls are in excellent condition with no damage, each still retaining the blue ink logo. The original paper insert is still present in the tube. The cardboard tube has very slight edge wear but is in excellent condition given its 80 year age.

12313-3

Ideal Retro Mr Machine Mechanical Walking Toy This clever 1977 Ideal toy is Mr. Machine, a wind-up robot style mechanical man who walks, whistles, opens and closes his mouth, and swings his arms and legs when in motion. You can watch the colorful gears moving through the transparent body. The toy works fine, if a little slowly, but that may be just due to my tile floor. Everything is intact and in good condition with no damage. 17-1/2 inches high.

Click for more detail...

12290-3A

1930s Celluloid Christmas Santa, Sleigh, Reindeer Toy This wonderful old celluloid Santa Claus in sleigh mantle, window, or tabletop display is 13-1/2 inches long by 3-1/4 inches at the highest point. Santa is seated in the gold-trimmed red sleigh with his green toy sack slung over his back. The two celluloid reindeer are secured in a red painted metal harness at the front with silk cord reins.

The reindeer are heavily dusted in mica glitter. Santa and the interior of the sleigh are as well, though Santa's mica is more worn than that on the reindeer. Santa's original whip has fallen inside the sleigh. The reins are secured with a loop of steel wire in place of the whip.

All four pieces are original to each other. The sleigh and reindeer are marked Japan with the letter N in circle symbol. There are no cracks, dents, or unintentional holes. The thin harness loops at the front of the sleigh are intact, and the metal harness has only very mild paint wear near the end hooks.

Circa: 1930

Manufacturer: Pre War Japan Import

Click for more detail...

13189

Viscoloid Antique Celluloid Little Girl Baby Rattle This celluloid baby rattle is about 100 years old. It's 5-1/2 inches high and in the form of a little girl playing a mandolin. Many of these rattles are one solid color, but this one is pink and blue on ivory. The front looks pretty good considering the age and delicate nature of celluloid, other than a dent or depression at the bottom of the girl's dress with a corresponding small seam split. The back has some flattening in the same area, as well as seam splits at both corners of the dress hem and a dent at the back of the head. The USA VCO Viscoloid mark is underneath her skirt, hard to see due to the flattening of the dress.

Click for more detail...

10415

Rosen Santa on Wheels Christmas Candy Container Pull Toy This circa 1950 hard plastic Christmas candy container toy was made by Rosbro / Rosen Plastics in the USA. The bright red full figure Santa Claus stands on a green wagon with red wheels. One hand has an opening to hold a lollipop or sucker and there's a loop on top of Santa's head to hang as a tree ornament if desired. Another loop at the front of the wagon will take a string, allowing the child to use the decoration as a pull toy. About 4-1/2 inches high. One green peg which helps hold the wheel axle in place on the bottom is snapped off though the wheels are still attached and functional. There is a little white paint wear to Santa's beard, otherwise it's in good vintage condition.

13333

1960s Lionel-Porter Microcraft Microscope Lab This 1964 microscope lab kit by Lionel Toy Corp is the type often given as a gift to a teenage or pre-teen boy or girl. The 3-turret microscope is 11-1/2 inches high and lights up just fine. It magnifies 75 to 450 times. The kit is missing the instruction manual but otherwise looks complete. Accessories include glass slides, cover slips, slid labels, tweezers, and sharp pin tools. There's also an electron film strip with color filters and micro photographs of various bacteria - instructions for the film strip are present. The hinged metal case has a faint name written across the front as shown, otherwise it's in good condition with graphics intact.

Lot 7 Colored Bakelite Gaming Dice Here are seven vintage colored Bakelite gambling or gaming dice. Three are clear cherry red, just over 1/2 inch diameter. Two are opaque red, same size. The golden apple juice colored die is a bit bigger, about 5/8" diameter. The little transparent green die is 3/8". They show normal age wear but have no chips or damage. I'm throwing in a fourth transparent red die that has a chip in one corner (not pictured).

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 11231: 1950s Child's Fringed Black Suede Yellowstone Cowboy Jacket

Click for more detail...

11231

1950s Child's Fringed Black Suede Yellowstone Cowboy Jacket This iconic 1950s child's souvenir of Yellowstone National Park is a Western style fringed suede cowboy jacket or coat in black suede and white vinyl. The front sides are decorated with twin Wyoming cowboys on bucking horses (the Bucking Horse and Rider image is actually a registered trademark of the state of Wyoming).

The jacket has white fringe at the front and back yoke, along the length of each arm at the backs, and around the lower hem. Two eyelets above the yoke fringe at each side provide the only closure, though the tie is missing. Yellowstone Park is stenciled in white across the back. The interior is completely lined in black, gray, and red cotton plaid (fused to the suede).

There are no tears or stains, but I did note a few dust lines to the outer folds from storage. The fringe has no cuts or tears but some of it is crimped or standing up - you can easily tame it back into place using a hair dryer.

There is no indication of any standard size notation, my guess is it will fit four to seven year olds. Measurements: Front length 18 inches including fringe from shoulder seam to bottom. Back 14" wide across the underarm seams, sleeves are 15 inches from shoulder seam to cuff measured across the tops.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 14297: Western Stagecoach Antimony Toy Play Set Mint on Card

Click for more detail...

14297

Western Stagecoach Antimony Toy Play Set Mint on Card This type of 1950s Japan made dimestore cowboy toy would often be used as a stocking stuffer or as a reward for a good boy out shopping with Mom. Mint and unused on the original litho print card, it has three small pieces - a blue horse drawn stage coach, a western style pistol, and a gold colored Special Police badge. The card reads " Western Stage Coach, Hand Painted Antimony Miniature, Six Horses & Four Moving Wheels". The 2-3/8 inch long stagecoach actually has only two horses but I doubt the kids paid much attention to the inaccurate description.

The card measures just over 3-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches. It's in excellent vintage condition, as are the toys. Sold as a collector item only. Please don't give it to a child as antimony is a toxic metal similar to lead.

1950s Green Metal Christmas Tree Dollhouse Fence Mint in Box This green painted steel metal picket fence set for doll houses, Christmas trees, or putz village scenes was made in the 1950s by General Machining Works of Chicago. There's a total of 10 feet in six 20" sections. The fence is 2 inches high. There are six metal clips or hinges to put the fence together. It's flexible so you can make your fence square or round. The fence is unused and in excellent condition. The box is in good shape too, though it does have the usual light shelf wear and minor discoloration from age and storage.

Junior Police Handcuffs 1950s Japan Toy Mint in Package This 1950s dimestore set of metal toy hand cuffs would make a fun white elephant gift, party favor, or Christmas stocking stuffer for kids and adults alike. Made of galvanized tin or steel (a magnet sticks to them), they're mint in their original sealed package. A cardboard insert inside says "Junior Police Handcuffs" and has an illustration of a policeman with billy club and handcuffs. The cardboard package header reads "Empress Playtime Toys, Metal Junior Handcuffs, M.P.N.Y Japan" Excellent condition.

Tex The Ranger 1950s Cowboy Toy Play Set on Original Card This 1950s Japan dimestore toy for boys is complete on the original card but is missing the cellophane or plastic wrapper. Titled Tex the Ranger Set, it includes a metal deputy sheriff pinback badge, a gold colored plastic whistle with embossed steer head, and a pocket watch on chain with adjustable hands. The colorful litho printed card has a wonderful scene of cowboys and horses in a western town setting. The toys are in very good, unused condition, attached to the card with original wires. The card has no tears, just a little storage wear.

Click for more detail...

13536

Antique Copper Childs Play Tea Set This hand wrought antique solid copper child's tea set dates to the mid-late 1800s. It includes a 12 by 8-1/4 inch tray, tea or coffee pot, covered sugar bowl, and four cups. The lids are decorated with curlicue scroll finials and all of the pieces have the same simple triple lines or rings decoration.

The coffee pot is 3-3/4" high by 2-1/4" diameter at the base. The sugar is just under 2-3/4 inches, and the four cups are 1-1/2" high by 2-3/8 inches across the rims. The coffee has a few small dings and interior rim of the sugar lid is slightly out of round. The cups are in good condition. The tray is a bit warped with numerous dings but many of them can be smoothed out with a rubber mallet if desired. I find no markings on any of the pieces. The set hasn't been cleaned or polished in many years and I left it that way. Price reflects condition of the tray.

Click for more detail...

9828

Child's Sheer Red Christmas Santa Claus Apron Can't you just picture your daughter or granddaughter helping you make Christmas cookies and treats in this adorable vintage Santa Claus apron? The ties are long enough to go around an adult's waist, but the smaller skirt size is probably more suited for a girl: 15 inches long by 13-1/4" wide at the waist (not including ties) by 33-1/2" wide across the hem. Each tie is over 34 inches long.

The apron is made of semi-sheer bright red cotton voile fabric. There's a 4 inch high felt Santa face appliqued to center-side front. There are some storage creases and some mild age discoloration to the white and pink felt with possible faint color bleed through around the top of the white area, nothing noticeable. No tears, holes, or stains.

Click for more detail...

9183-2

1950s Box Set Gurley Cowboy Figural Birthday Candles A boxed set of five old fashioned Western cowboy shape figural candles, made by Gurley Novelty in the 1950s. They're 2-1/4" high, suitable for a birthday cake. The little cowboys wear gun holsters, bandannas, riding chaps, and cowboy hats. All are unlit and in very good vintage condition. The box is flimsy, never meant to last 60 years. It's missing the cellophane window and one side flap, and has general age wear and discoloration. My camera flash kind of saturated the yellow candles, they look the same as the others other than color.

Circa: 1950
