Antique German Tin Extension Christmas Tree Candle Holders
A set of 11 antique German extension candle holders for the Christmas tree, commonly used in the days before electric lighting. The 5 inch candle holders are tin. Three are plain, the rest are painted in lead glaze colors. There is wear to the painted finish as shown. The M shape ends are designed to weave around the tree branches rather than the usual clip type, and were ostensibly long enough to keep the candle flames extended away from the branches above. Eleven antique spiral candles that fit the holders are included.
I sold a 10-piece boxed set of these candle holders several years ago with the original illustrated instructions showing how they could be arranged around the bottom of a birthday cake, in addition to use on the Christmas tree. There was an 1890s patent date and both the box and paperwork stated they were made in Germany. The last photo shows the instruction sheet from that long-gone set - please note that you'll receive the items in the first picture only. This set does not have a box or instructions but it does include candles.

Three 1950s Tavern Santa Claus Christmas Candles
A trio of three standing classic Tavern brand Santa Claus Christmas novelty candles by Socony Vacuum Oil Co. from the 1950s. They're 5 inches tall (not the more common miniature/small size) and appear to be laughing Ho Ho Ho with their hands in their pockets and big red open mouths.
The candles have never been lit though they do have some wear from years of use and display. The eye paint is pretty much gone. There is light red paint loss to the backs of each, mostly at the hat areas. One Santa has a chipped foot, another has some melted white wax at the side of one boot from another candle.

Napco Bone China Miniature Christmas Doves Candle Rings Huggers
These bone china Christmas candle rings have had their foil labels removed, but they were made by Napcoware in the 1970s. Often called candle climbers or candle huggers, they have molded ceramic rings at the backs to slip over a taper candle. The white doves have gold topknot crowns and wreaths of holly and red berries around their necks. Excellent condition.

Brass Angels Pine Boughs Christmas Mantle Candelabra
This scrolly brass trumpeting angels Christmas candle holder is perfectly sized for your mantle or as a table centerpiece. It has three taper candle cups and two brass wire trumpeting angels. Artificial pine boughs decorated the base. The candelabra is 2 feet long by 4-1/2" wide at the base (not including the pine spray) and 11 inches high to the tops of the trumpets. In excellent vintage condition.

Flocked Red Green Pair Christmas Candles Retro 60s
A pair of very retro-kitsch Mid Century decorated Cathedral Christmas candles in their original boxes from EF Laurence Company of Massachusetts. The holders are reticulated red and green flocked hard plastic with plastic poinsettia and pine greenery, a little over 5 inches high. Inside are 3 inch textured green glass tall votive holders with green bayberry scented candles. The candles were briefly lit with only a little melting of the wax and of course they're replaceable. An extra red votive candle is inside one holder. The candle holders and the boxes are in good vintage condition. I was amused by the suggestion at the back of the box: "reusable as an unusual desk or table accessory".

Holly Holiday Sleigh Large Porcelain Christmas Candle Planter
This vintage "Holly Holiday" Christmas candle by Royal Limited of Thailand is a large creamy porcelain ceramic sleigh decorated with holly garlands and trimmed in gold. The interior is filled with a double wick red scented candle, never lit. When the candle is used up, the sleigh becomes a Christmas planter or candy dish. It's 7-1/2" long by 5" high and 3 inches wide. In excellent condition with no damage. Royal Limited made an extensive variety of Holly Holiday dinnerware, serving, accessory, and kitchenware pieces in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Pair 1960s Silverplate Leaf Cluster Candlesticks Candle Holders
A pair of petite silverplate taper candle holders from the 1960s, 3-1/4 inches diameter by about 1-3/4" high. The dimensional layered leaves form a lily pad style flower in the center. The candlesticks are bright and shiny with no damage or scratches. Foil labels on the undersides read Silverplated Made in Hong Kong.

This pair of Mid Century ceramic angel candle climber or hugger figurines was made by Fine A Quality of Japan. They're somewhat androgynous - you decide whether they're boys or girls. The barefoot angels are 3 inches high, wearing long white robes with gold trim. There's some minor crazing to the white gowns but no damage.

3 Gurley Christmas Choir Boy Figural Candles
Three classic Mid Century choir boy candles by Gurley Novelty. The tall one is about 5-1/4 inches, the two small boys are 2-3/4" high. They need a little cleaning up - the small candles have some dust and glitter, mostly to the backs of the heads. They've never been lit but there are some bumps and tiny nicks from long term storage in a warm place, and it looks like someone took a hot knife to two of these kids. The larger boy has a slash mark on one cheek and one of the little boys has a similar deep slash to the back of his cassock.

Christmas Mice Bone China Candlesticks
These circa 1980 bone china Christmas candle holders were made in Taiwan for Lenox Candles. Next to each holly trimmed pillar is a cute little big-eared mouse, one holding presents, the other a candy cane. The set is complete with two red candles, unlit. They are 6-3/4 inches high including the candles, about 3 inches wide. The candlesticks are in excellent vintage condition with no damage or paint loss. The candles have minor marks from storage. The white spots in the photos are from reflections and glare.

Box Santa Boots Christmas Candles With Holly, Beads
A box of 1950s decorated wax Santa boots Christmas candles, decorated with silver glitter, lacquered holly berries, and wired mercury glass bead flowers. There are four red candles, 2-3/4 inches high. Paper Japan labels are on the bottoms. The candles have not been lit. There is some shedding of the glitter and the mercury glass bead decorations have darkened with age. The box has some age and storage wear.

Gurley Christmas Candles Santa Lantern Church Deer
An assortment of 1950s figural Christmas candles from Gurley Novelty. The two waving Santa Claus candles are 5-1/2 inches tall and are dated 1950 on the cardboard bottom labels. One is cracked just above the black boots but it still stands.
The tall-steepled church building is 5 inches not including the wick and is decorated with silver glitter flakes and a green sugar glittered bell. Next is a 4 inch hurricane style oil lamp. The last candle was actually made by Tavern and is labeled Young Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It's suffered heat damage at the back of the legs and does not stand up. None of the candles have been lit.

Pair 14 Inch Mercury Glass Candles for Floral, Christmas Arrangements
These extra long silvered blown mercury glass candles were made from the 1930s (perhaps earlier) to around 1950. They were typically used in Christmas floral arrangements, but can also be displayed in your favorite candlesticks year round.
The two candles are 14 inches long by just under 1/2 inch diameter. The cork stoppers are slightly different - one has tape wrapped around the base (easily removable), the other has a combination cork and wax bulb stopper. The red painted flame tips and length without stoppers are identical. I found it very difficult to photograph them, but the candles are in excellent condition, still very reflective with shiny, even coloring and finish. There are no scratches, cloudiness, or loss of inner silvering. One of the textured flame tips has a small area of flaking to the red paint.
