16681

Little Bull Mexican Paper Pinata This small Mid Century pinata bull cardboard and paper figurine was made in Mexico. Larger ones were meant to be filled with small toys and candy for children, but this is more decorative at just 7 inches high. Some of the shredded colored paper is a bit faded, otherwise the pinata is in excellent vintage condition, intact with no damage or tears.

Circa: 1975

16468

1960s Straw Stuffed Bear on Leash Toy, Yellowstone Souvenir Almost any child of the late 1950s through 1970s who visited Yellowstone National Park should recognize this stuffed toy bear cub - it was a popular child's souvenir at the park and in West Yellowstone gift shops for a good twenty years or so.

Stuffed with straw, the plush fur black bear has a red plastic collar attached to a metal chain leash with red plastic hand loop. The original red cardboard string tag is still attached to the collar reading "Souvenir of Yellowstone Park" on the front, "Mafco" on the back. Most of these Mafco bears were about 4 inches high, but this one is large - more than 9 inches long by 7-1/2 inches high. A Japan label is sewn into the back leg seam. I can't tell if the amber and black bubble eyes are glass or plastic, I presume the latter. The bear is in excellent, clean condition with no tears or damage.

Circa: 1960

Click for more detail...

11285

1940s Yellowstone Souvenir Ruffled Satin Apron I've sold several Yellowstone Park souvenir aprons over the years, but none like this one from the 1940s, made of yellow satin and white silk or silk-type fabric with tinted, screen printed Western cowboy and Indian images. It measures 17 inches long at the center by about 18 inches wide including the bright yellow ruffling. Each tie extends about 20 inches from the apron.

The Western printed design is wonderful: a diamond shape center image of a cowboy on a bucking horse bordered by lariats, saddles, horses, covered wagons, cactus, teepees, and other Western motifs. Each of the four corners has a different image: Indian chief, cowgirl, a cowboy who very much resembles one of our former Presidents, and a Yellowstone Falls scene with Indians in front of their teepee. Yellowstone Park is printed at the bottom of the apron.

Despite the poor pictures, it's in excellent, clean condition with no stains, tears, or damage. The apron could use a pressing to remove some storage wrinkles.

Circa: 1940s

Las Vegas 1950s Mini Souvenir Teapot, Cup, Plate Set This miniature gold trimmed porcelain tea set was a souvenir of Las Vegas Nevada in the early 1950s, made in Japan. Each piece has an illustration of casinos on the Strip. The Golden Nugget is the most prominent, and the only one named. On the other side of the strip are the Mint and Horseshoe casinos, not named but identifiable by their rooftop signage.

The covered teapot is 1-1/4" high by 3-3/8" wide from handle to spout. The plate is a little over 3" diameter, the cup an inch high. All three pieces are in very good vintage condition with some minor wear to the gold trim but no chips or damage.

Click for more detail...

16557

1930s Syroco Yellowstone Souvenir Smoking Set Box, Ashtrays This very nice Yellowstone National Park souvenir smoking set is made of a carved wood composition material, produced by Syroco (Syracuse Ornamental Company) in the late 1930s. It's a covered cigarette box with attached twin ashtrays, 10-1/4 inches long by 4-1/2 inches wide. The lid has a nicely carved bear in the forest relief scene with green painted pine trees with Yellowstone National Park printed in the left lower corner. The sides have decorative carved tree ring and bark designs. Both of the original glass ashtray inserts are present with no damage (these are more often than not missing).

The smoking set has one small nick to the rim of the center box, which is covered by the lid. There's no other damage aside from some mild finish wear around the bottom edges. The original foil label on the bottom is no longer present, but I guarantee it's an authentic Syroco piece.

Pair Duncan Button Arches EAPG Ruby Stained Souvenir Mugs Two small Early American pattern glass ruby stain souvenir mugs or cups in the Button Arches pattern by Duncan Miller. They aren't dated but were produced during the first decade or so of the last century. The mugs are just under 3 inches high by 2-1/2" diameter. One is engraved "On to Luella", the other "On to Vise". The only town of Vise I could find is Visé in Belgium, but there are towns named Luella in both Texas and Georgia.

Both mugs are in excellent condition with no chips, flakes, or damage. The ruby coloring has a few tiny scratches and pindots of color wear mostly near the rims, all very minimal. The gold hash mark underlining is part of the engraving, not scratching. Price is for the pair.
