14161

Little Boy Boxing Champ Angel Figurine 1950s This darling 1950s little boy ceramic angel figurine is a champion boxer as evidenced by the word Champ on his chest printed in gold and the brown boxing gloves on his hands. The 3-3/4 inch high angel kid has one gloved hand raised in victory, a charming crooked smile, and one eye closed in a wink. Gold shoes peek out from his long white robe decorated with tiny gold flowers, and his wing feathers are tipped in gold as well. The original foil label is missing, but this series of boy sports angels was made by Fine A Quality of Japan. There's some faint, mild crazing to the white gown, otherwise excellent vintage condition with no damage.

14600

Miniature German Art Deco Flapper Half Doll With Legs A petite or miniature size porcelain Art Deco half doll with legs, about 5 inches high. No markings are visible but I'm confident the flapper style doll is German from the 1920s. She wears a sleeveless pink tank top and has a pink and green 3-lobe feather crown tiara atop her short Marcel waved hair. The skirt is simply a wrap of aged cotton twill ribbon with ruffled lace and satin ribbon. The ribbon was probably looped at the back originally but is split now. There's a tiny spot of gold paint wear at the bottom of one shoe heel, it's not a nick or chip. Other than the age discoloration to the skirt, the doll is in excellent condition with no damage.

Circa: 1924

Realistic Chalkware Figurine Victorian Sunbonnet Lady Lace Dress Beautiful antique chalkware figurine depicting a Southern Belle or Victorian lady holding a bouquet of flowers, seated on a bench. The pose and colors are identical to the old Royal Doulton Day Dreams porcelain figurine. Her apricot colored long dress has flouncy ruffles trimmed in real cotton lace. She wears a matching sunbonnet with green ties, and looks demurely down and to the side. The figure is about 5-3/4 inches high by 6 inches wide. It's in wonderful condition with no chips or damage.

13128

Antique Majolica China Man Figural Incense Burner Figurine A wonderful antique majolica figural incense burner or smoker in the form of a kneeling Chinese man holding a bowl or basket, his wide open mouth goes all the way through. Made of heavy reddish tan earthenware clay, the figure is well formed and skillfully painted (probably with lead glazed paint).

The figurine is about 5-1/4 inches high by the same in length from the edge of the bowl to the back of the foot. There are no marks or indication of origin. It looks like the head has been repaired, noticeable only on close examination and reflected in the price.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 6458: Pair Carnival Flocked Chalkware Large Bear Figurines

Click for more detail...

6458

Pair Carnival Flocked Chalkware Large Bear Figurines Two unusual pieces of old carnival chalkware - they're bear figurines and they are flocked. The standing bear is 10-1/4" tall and is mounted on a molded plaster slab painted to look like a slice of redwood tree trunk. The front has is smooth, and is where a label or souvenir decal would have been placed. If the bear ever had one, it's no longer present. The second bear is about 10" long by 5-3/4" high. I'm not sure how well you can see it in the pictures, but the bears' "fur" is textured under the flocking to simulate natural muscles and skin folds. Both are in excellent vintage condition with no chips, just a few very minor wear areas to the clocking, mostly at the backs, and the usual small manufacturing imperfections common to old plaster chalkware. No markings as to manufacture or origin but they are at least 80 years old and wonderful. Price is for the pair.

Cemar of California Pottery Dove Bird Figurine This creamy white pottery dove figurine was made by Cemar Clay Products, a California pottery firm started by two former employees of Bauer. Known for their Art Deco style figures and animals, Cemar operated from 1935 to the about 1955, and sold their molds to Bauer when they closed down.

The bird figure is 5-3/4 inches high at the tail feathers by about 7-1/2 inches wide. The off-white glaze has a satin matte finish. It's marked in-mold Cemar 549 on the base. There's one small glaze nick to the back wing feather (reflected in price), otherwise excellent condition.

13903

Napco Calendar Cutie December Christmas Toddler Baby Figurine In the early 1960s Napco produced a monthly series of these adorable Calendar Cuties ceramic figurines. This is the figure for December, a charming toddler girl wearing only ruffled pink panties and a red and white Santa hat. She holds up a Christmas stocking in one hand, a stack of wrapped presents in the other with more gifts at her feet.

The figurine is 5-3/8 inches high and in excellent condition with no damage or paint loss. The bottom is marked Napcoware with the stock number C-5772. There's also a silver foil label reading "National Potteries Co., Cleveland O., Made in Japan".

13626

Napco Pair Bisque Cherubs Angels Wall Plaque Figurines These beautiful Mid Century Napco angel wall decorations have exquisitely hand painted old-world cherubic faces. The angel with the pink sash holds a lute and points to her twin in the blue sash, who holds a book with one hand extended palm up. Made of fine porcelain bisque, the angels are about 4-3/4" high by 4 inches wide. In perfect condition, there are holes on the backs for hanging on the wall. The foil labels read Napcoware Import Japan. The lighting wasn't great when I took the pictures - they're nicer and more realistic looking than the photos show.

11683

Gilner Pixies Maroon Pottery Salt Pepper Shakers A pair of scarce upright pixie salt and pepper shakers, made by Gilner Pottery of California in the early 1950s. The salt shaker is a girl and the pepper is a boy - her features are painted a little lighter. I don't know if that was intentional or not. They're about 4-1/2 inches tall and have no damage or crazing. Stoppers are not present. The shaker holes are not very prominent so you can display them as figurines with your pixie collection.

Click for more detail...

13966

Chalkware Brown Cocker Spaniel Dog Large Bank Figure This vintage reddish brown and white Cocker or Springer Spaniel chalkware figure is a large bank with the coin slot at the back below the collar so it can easily be displayed as a figurine. It stands nearly 12 inches high by about 10-1/2" long. It was likely produced as a fair or carnival prize between the 1930s and 1950s.

The dog is more realistic looking than most chalk figures of this type. There are some typical nicks and scuffs, most minor and minimal. The one noticeable chip is to the fur behind the right leg, visible in the second picture. Overall the condition is quite good. Most chalkware banks were broken to get the money out, but this one just has a carefully cut or drilled hole in the bottom. It looks like someone wrote their name in crayon on the bottom, and there are some stains from old tape. The last photo shows the dog with his or her twin, also listed in my shop.

12321

Rio Hondo Pottery 1940s Cat Bank and Deer Figurine This 1940s Rio Hondo of California pottery cat figure may be a razor blade bank rather than a coin bank. The slot at the top of the cat's head is wide, and the bottom has a small drainage hole but no means to remove any coins. The cat has hand painted brown face and paws with a green bow on beige. It has crazing and some tiny, faint marks to the back of the head from some dummy's magic marker (mostly removed, see photo) but no damage. Original foil label reading "Made In California, Rio Hondo Potteries, El Monte Calif".

Also included is a Rio Hondo little fawn or deer figurine, 3 inches long by 2-1/2 inches high. No label or marks. No damage, just some very light, fine crazing. No label, unmarked.

Click for more detail...

13596

Treasure Craft 1950s Balinese Exotic Dancers Ceramic Planters A gorgeous, super retro set of tall Balinese or Siamese dancer figural ceramic planters by Treasure Craft of California from the 1950s, possibly late 1940s. The male dancer is 13-3/4 inches high, the female about half an inch shorter. The cream colored high-gloss pottery is decorated in mauve pink and abundant gold. The planter openings are 3 by 2 inches, with a depth of nearly 4 inches.

The figurines are in excellent condition. There are no chips, flakes, hairlines, or other damage, and no crazing. There is some wear to the lavish gold trim - some of the photos make the wear look worse than it really is due to reflections and lighting conditions. The fingertips of the male dancer have a touch of wear to the fleshtone paint, best seen in the back view (photo number 2). The male also has a tiny paint skip at the tip of his nose. The bottom of each planter has some florist clay residue. Each figurine has a gold and red foil label reading Treasure Craft Original California.

13995

Pair Capodimonte Napoleon Porcelain Roses This pair of delicate Italian porcelain roses came from an Idaho estate auction. I personally removed them from the home's china cabinet. The blue Capodimonte brochure was underneath the yellow rose. The pink rose had no brochure with it, but I'm confident it's also Capodimonte based on the quality, similarity of composition, and my research. The yellow rose is a little over 3 inches diameter. The pink rose with rosebud is nearly 4 inches wide by 2-3/4" high. One of the leaves of the pink rose has a tiny sliver nick at the tip (shown greatly enlarged in the last photo, also visible in first photo). It's smooth and barely noticeable. There is no other damage.

When a lit cigarette is placed on the rest in his open mouth, smoke comes out the pixie's ears and head.

The ashtray is about 5 inches long by 3 inches high. There is some minor wear to the red paint at the back sides of the pointed hat, and the butterfly has white wing edges where the gold paint didn't extend). There are no chips, flakes, or damage. It's spotlessly clean with no odors and does not appear to have been used as an ashtray at all. The underside is marked Japan.

11309-2

Set 3 Ceramic Musical Cherub Angel Figurines 1950s Japan This set of three 1950s Japan porcelain ceramic angel or cherub style figures are so cute. Their faces are a bit androgynous, it's up to the viewer to decide if they're boys or girls. The children are about 3-3/4 inches high and do not have wings, though they look like angels in every other respect with their long white gowns trimmed with stamped gold flowers. One has a tuba strapped to his or her back, the other two have big drums slung over their shoulders.

They are marked Japan in red ink on the bottoms. One has the remains of an F.W. Woolworth Co. price tag on the lower side back of her gown. The angels are clean and have no damage or crazing. Ideal for display at Christmas time or year round.

Click for more detail...

12111

Germany Flowered Shoe Figurine or Vase and Canoe Ashtray Both of these delicate porcelain figurines were made in Germany in the 1930s or earlier and have applied porcelain flowers. The shoe vase is 2-1/4" high by about 4-1/4 inches long. It has four lacing holes and is decorated with a big pink porcelain rose surrounded by green leaves and tiny purple and blue forget-me-not type flowers. There was probably a thin silk ribbon or bow in the lacing holes at one time. There is a very minor manufacturing flaw above the top right lacing hole, a thin line where the porcelain was separated at firing, less than 1/8" long.

The small canoe shape ashtray has a pearl luster finish and measures 4 inches long by 2-1/4 inches wide. The top rim is decorated with pink and yellow applied porcelain roses, green leaves, and blue flowers. Although the yellow rose looks like it's chipped in the photo, I don't think it is - it's glazed over and smooth to the touch. Both pieces are marked Germany on the bottoms.

Porcelain Lady With Parasol Stiffened Lace Figurine This petite Dresden lace style porcelain figurine is from the late 1940s to early 1950s, probably made in Japan. She's 3-3/4 inches high, wearing low cut blouse and long dress with three layers of gathered and stiffened pink lace ruffles. She holds a white lace trimmed parasol in one hand which is decorated with tiny painted roses. Her other hand and arm are raised away from her body. The figurine is not marked but there's a tiny scrap of silver foil label on the bottom. In excellent condition with no chips or damage - all of the delicate lace is completely intact and clean.

4 Decorative Flowered Porcelain Shoe Slipper Figurines My Grandma had a collection of figural ceramic shoes - she put little plants or artificial flowers in some of them. I often found coins or old tokens inside others when I played with them. These four delicate porcelain ladies' shoe or slipper figurines are from the 1930s to 1950s. The two pink shoes are marked Germany and are just under 3 inches long by 2 inches high. They have applied white roses, blue forget-me-nots, and green leaves at the front and flower decals at the sides. One shoe looks like it's missing a tiny blue flower.

<P>The other pair of shoes are singles. The white with gold trim and blue flowers shoe is 4-1/4" long by 2 inches high. It's marked on the bottom "Osborne Hand Painted". The large luster finish shoe isn't marked. It's 5-1/4" long by 2-3/4 inches high. Both are in excellent condition. Price is for the set of four.

California Pottery Weil Ware Lady With Heart Flower Holder Vase This ceramic lady vase or flower holder figurine was made in the 1940s by Max Weil's California Figurine Co. She's about 7 inches high, wearing a long pastel flowered dress. Her flowered yellow hat coordinates with the yellow heart planter box held in her arms, where there is an opening for flowers. She could also be used to hold used razors or coins. The back has an embossed label reading California Figurine with the initials MWC for Max Weil Company. There is some crazing, otherwise in very good vintage condition.

Snowbaby Snow Baby on Sled Christmas Figure Pair Though not made as Christmas decorations, bisque Snowbaby figures are typically displayed during the holidays. These charming antique figurines depicts a little snow baby riding sitting on a red sled with arms outstretched. Each is about 1-3/4" high. The faces are well defined and nicely painted. There's some typical light wear to the crushed bisque "snow" but overall they're in very good condition with no damage. I don't see any marks but it's undoubtedly from 1930s or earlier Germany. Price is for the pair.
