15984

Marx Little Orphan Annie Working Electric Toy Stove According to Kovels, the Louis Marx toy company made several different variations of Little Orphan Annie metal toy stoves from the mid 1930s into the 1940s. This is one of the larger electric versions with three burners, measuring 9-1/2 by 6 inches, 8-1/2 inches high to the top of the backsplash panel. They were painted in different colors - this stove is red and pale yellow. Included are some non-original cookware toys - a 2-part aluminum double boiler with red handles and a pair of tin toy jelly molds to hang from the hooks on the back panel.

The 5-1/2 foot cloth covered cord and Bakelite plug are in very good condition with no splits, tears, or fraying. The stove heats up properly when plugged in (it gets pretty hot so you shouldn't leave it on long). The two hinged doors below the burners open and close properly. There are some scuffs and paint wear consistent with age, nothing excessive considering the 90-plus year age.

14297

Western Stagecoach Antimony Toy Play Set Mint on Card This type of 1950s Japan made dimestore cowboy toy would often be used as a stocking stuffer or as a reward for a good boy out shopping with Mom. Mint and unused on the original litho print card, it has three small pieces - a blue horse drawn stage coach, a western style pistol, and a gold colored Special Police badge. The card reads " Western Stage Coach, Hand Painted Antimony Miniature, Six Horses & Four Moving Wheels". The 2-3/8 inch long stagecoach actually has only two horses but I doubt the kids paid much attention to the inaccurate description.

The card measures just over 3-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches. It's in excellent vintage condition, as are the toys. Sold as a collector item only. Please don't give it to a child as antimony is a toxic metal similar to lead.

Click for more detail...

16877

Wolverine Dutch Kids Tin Litho Play Cabinet Hutch This 1950s child-size toy china hutch cabinet was made by Wolverine Toys. It's turquoise and white metal with Dutch children and folk art flowers and hearts decoration. It stands 20-1/4 inches high by 17 inches wide by 6-3/4" deep front to back.

The top of the hutch has two shelve and the counter space for storing play dishes. There's a pull-out drawer above the two working cabinet doors. The cabinet is in pretty good shape for its near 70 year age with a few small scuffs and scrapes to the shelves and slight crinkles or dings here and there, all shown in the pictures. I forgot to get a picture of the enclosed bottom of the hutch - it's not rusty and the turquoise paint is intact other than typical scuff wear along the edges. In comparing the photos to the actual cabinet, it looks dirtier than it really is due to the poor, sunless lighting in the pictures - not that it couldn't use a little better wipe down than what I gave it.

16832

Child's 1950s Ceramic Toy Set Pink Roses This porcelain ceramic child's toy tea set probably dates to the 1950s, possibly earlier. It would have been considered a deluxe set with all the extra serving pieces included. The dishes are decorated with dark bright rose sprays and green leaves. Here's what's included in the set:

6 dinner plates, 4-1/2" diameter
6 saucers, 3-7/8"

Click for more detail...

16244

1960s Tri Play Toys Cotton Candy Machine This was a fun find for me - I actually got this same 1960s electric "Kotton Kandy" machine by Tri-Play Toys as a kid for Christmas. My sister and I had lots of fun making and eating our own cotton candy.

The machine comes in its original box and appears to have been used only once - the 12 inch spinning plastic bowl is clean but has some yellow sugar crystals around the pierced enamel heating diffuser. When plugged in, it takes a minute or two for the unit to heat up and start spinning (I didn't actually try to make the candy). Included are the instruction brochure, plastic scraper, one complete plastic fork, one broken fork, and a box of colored sugar crystals. The yellow has been opened and mostly used but the blue sugar pack is still sealed. This item is being sold as a collectible toy - as I recall the motor got extremely hot.

16797

1930s Orphan Annie Pastry Play Set Kitchen Toy This Little Orphan Annie toy pastry play set was made by Transogram in the 1930s. It's not complete - I think there are some metal bakeware pieces missing. The wooden rolling pin and board are present, along with three other wooden kitchen implements or bowls. The original recipe book is also present. The box lid has great vintage graphics, but it's missing two side lid flaps with a third flap present but detached.
