17284

Box 1950s Italian Pinecone Gnomes Dwarfs Christmas Lights A scarce late 1940s miniature light set made in Italy with 12 clay face pinecone gnomes, dwarfs or elves. Ten are holding a candle topped by a mini light bulb. The elves have white mica snow frosted pine cone bodies, real cotton batting beards, and molded clay-like composition hand painted faces full of character. Each one is different, and each has a different style or color of paper maché composition hat. The hats have wired loops so you can position them with hooks or wire on the tree branches - with wonderful faces like that, you don't want any of them facing the wall or the inside of the tree.

The lights work as shown in the second picture. At first I thought they were burned out, but after a little gentle manipulation of the candle bulbs, they turned on (though of course I cannot guarantee how much longer they'll continue to work, given their age). The cord has been repaired with electrical tape and the Bakelite plug is taped as well - it's probably just missing the center screw. I think those wire twist ties are holding the light cord in place - some of the gnomes have broken mica arm extensions, though 4 are loose in the box. I would have used pieces of chenille pipe cleaners instead of twist ties. Two gnomes are not attached to the light cord because there are only 10 bulbs, likely removed when the cord was repaired. Some of the fragile pine cones have splits or damage, and one gnome has a replacement cardboard base.

17132

Box Vintage Silk Poinsettia Christmas Lights A boxed set of 1970s miniature silk poinsettia Christmas lights with miniature bulbs. There are 20 lights, spaced about 6 inches apart. The way the cords are wrapped behind the box insert indicates they were never used. A sealed bag of two replacement bulbs and an extra safety fuse is included. The lights all work fine as shown in the last picture, and the box is in good condition with no damage. Instructions for bulb and fuse replacement are on the back of the box.

Click for more detail...

17304

Soft Plastic Filigree 1960s Christmas Garland Light String This very retro 1960s novelty lighted Christmas garland has 10 alternating soft plastic filigree lanterns and bells studded with plastic holly and berries. A string of Italian miniature multi colored Christmas lights is woven into the garland chain. If you're old enough to remember those kitschy flexible or soft plastic doilies at Grandma's house, that's similar to what the bells and lanterns look and feel like. The entire garland measures a little over 12 feet long to the plug. The bells and lanterns are about 2-1/2 inches high. The lights work and the garland is in very good vintage condition. I checked it over carefully for damage and did not see any tears, cuts, stains, or missing holly sprigs.

17245

5 Strings Working C7 Christmas Lights Plus Extra Bulbs A big lot of C-7 Mid Century Christmas light strings, more than enough for a 6 foot tree. There's one extra long 33 foot string by Paramount with 25 lights. A Noma string holds 15 lights and is 15 feet long. The other three 7- light strings (Clemco, Gilbert, and unknown) are over 9 feet each - more than 75 feet total. All work fine as you can see, and all the bulbs currently light up. However, these older Christmas tree bulbs can burn out at any time, so I'm including six packs of spare bulbs (29 in all), all tested and all working.

Click for more detail...

16518

Pair Christmas Tinsel Star Tree Toppers in One Box I guess someone must have lost the box to one of their vintage Christmas tree toppers - two 8 inch diameter tinsel star toppers, identical other than color, were found at an estate stored in one box. They are the same size and style, one silver, one gold, each with 11 multi-color miniature lights. Only one has a plastic cone for the tree top, the other might have hung in a window. I didn't notice until now that the gold star was missing one of the clear plastic reflectors. I have added a similar reflector from my vintage lights stash. Both tinsel stars light up brightly. The toppers were made in Taiwan in the 1970s.

17309

Paramount Illuminated Angel Christmas Tree Topper in Original Box This hard plastic electric lighted angel tree top decoration was made by Paramount Raylite in the early 1950s. Her wings and halo are transparent plastic, her body is white with painted yellow hair and gold stars on her gown. She's about 8-1/2 inches tall and has an opening at the bottom to mount on top of the Christmas tree, as well as a keyhole opening in the back to mount in a window or on the wall, just above the opening for the light bulb.

The angel is in very good vintage condition with no damage or wear, though he cord has an electrical tape repair at the socket base - I pulled the tape back a bit for the third picture to show the slight fray it's covering. The angel still lights up brightly every time. She comes in her original box. The lid is detached and has tears and storage wear as shown.

Cast Iron Art Deco Lighted Christmas Tree Stand This early 1930s cast iron Christmas tree stand has its original gold paint. It's the Yankee model 5A, made by North Bros. Manufacting Company of Philadelphia. The well column has raised skyscraper style layered spires or trees, and each of the four legs has a raised pine tree. The stand is wired to take eight C-6 Christmas light bulbs. The wiring needs repair or replacement - there are a couple of frays and splits, so the lights don't currently work. I'm including eight tested gold ribbed cone light bulbs, all working. The tree holder is about 6 inches high by 14" diameter.

16992

Box Sears Christmas Candles Light String Set Unused This boxed set of Christmas candle lights from Sears dates to the late 1960s or early 1970s. Though the box has a little storage wear, the lights were never used - the string is still wrapped in the original perfect factory coiling with all tags and the bag of spare bulbs still intact.

There are ten white candle lights with gold bases and molded drips, each 5 inches high to the tips of the clear miniature bulbs. The lights can be positioned on your tree with the help of clips below each candle. I'm not sure how long the string is, but the candles are spaced 10 inches apart according to the box. They all work perfectly as shown. The plug is the old fashioned, non polarized type.

Click for more detail...

17267

Noma C7 Cloth Cord Christmas Light String This old Noma C7 Christmas tree light cord still works. It dates to the 1930s (pre World War II). Though the red and yellow bulbs all light up fine, I'm including an extra six working GE and Mazda older bulbs as replacements in case they burn out (3 green, 2 red, and one yellow). The seven-light string is over 13 feet long and has the red wooden bead "berries" that help hold the lights in postition on your tree. The cord has no splits or tears.

I'm including the non-original Noma box they came to me in. The illustration shows tubular candle shape bulbs. It's torn and warped, but all pieces are present. You can restore it by spraying the pieces with water, then placing them on towels weighted with books. Once fully dry you can tape the box back in place.

Noma C7 Working Christmas Light Strings 2 Sets Two Mid Century Noma Christmas tree light strings plus replacement bulbs. They're the older 1950s style with green and red cords and wood bead "berry" sliders that were supposed to help hold the lights in position on the tree. Each string is over 11 feet long, not including the plugs, and holds seven lights. All lights are presently working as shown, but of course they're over 50 years old and could burn out at any time. Therefore, I'm including eight extra tested bulbs.

31 Tested C6 Ribbed Cone Christmas Light Bulbs Plus String I tested every one of these old C-6 ribbed cone or flame tip Christmas light bulbs and they all light up fine. There are 31 bulbs marked USA, GE, W (I assume for Westinghouse) and Japan. Most are ribbed cone or flame shape, and most are American made. One is shaped like a bottle, one is a squarish clear bulb, and another is a different style of flame shape that resembles a flower bud. There are 3 extra bulbs that didn't light up for me (not shown). Several bulbs have missing paint to various degrees.

Also included is a Noma C-6 light string with 8 sockets. It works fine as shown in the second picture. Please be aware that some of the bulbs may have been around since the 1930s or even 1920s. While they all presently light up, I can't guarantee how long they'll last.
