Large antique carved soapstone censer
Unusual chocolate brown soapstone censer, decorated on all sides and top with playful foo dogs. The handles depict baku heads and the tripod feet rest on an attached soapstone base. Naturally dark brown soapstone pieces are hard to find, especially in such good condition. Circa late 19th (or early 20th) century. Dimensions: 11" (H), 8" (W), 6½"(Diam).

Carved antique soapstone double vase
Intricately carved Chinese soapstone double vase in a striking natural coloration (black and various shades of deep rust). These dark rich colors are hard to find in these older pieces and enhance the depictions of birds and flowers. The pictures indicate the details and fine condition of this attractive late 19th (or early 20th) century stone carving. There are some thin (not deep) lines in the stone, which were made when the piece was carved (and mentioned to be precise). Dimensions: 6½" (H), 9¾" (W), 4¾" (D).

Most unusual old carved soapstone candlestick that depicts a robed person entwined with flowers(?). Interesting colored veins in shades of beige, brown and rust; has a decorative atttached brown soapstone base. The base shows some light reflections that are not damage! Both front and back views are depicted in the pictures. Height is 7" and the condition is excellent.

Extremely attractive and nicely carved antique soapstone figure. I am not sure which God this is, but he is a fisherman. The God is well attired and the two fish he is holding, as well as his clothing, are nicely detailed. Both the front and back are also finely done. The figure is attached to a carved black soapstone base, which is carved to resemble tree bark. Height: 10¼".

Finely carved antique soapstone vase
Antique Chinese soapstone vase with intricately carved leaves and berries with a few animals hidden amongst them. The naturally mottled soapstone has a nice blend of colors (brown, beige, rust and black). The vase is attached to a brown soapstone base and the condition is very good, except for the tips of a few leaves, which have been damaged. This vase is usnusual both in color and the type of carving on it. Height: 8½".

Antique soapstone plaque with base
An very unusual piece of carved Chinese soapstone with beautiful color. The plaque is intricately carved with trees, leaves and berries and a single animal, which are all carved in high relief from a single piece of soapstone. The plaque is rather flat (~¾ inches in thickness) and fits into a carved brown soapstone base. Condition is excellent with only a minor (barely visible) chip to a leaf. The back of the plaque has a small hole in it that looks like it was intentionally made. Height of plaque in base: 9¼"; width in base: 5½".

Pair of antique carved soapstone vases with lids
This most unusual pair of vases has complimentary intricately carved flowers, leaves and stems decorating their fronts and a bit simpler carved decoration on their backs (see photos). One of the lids had a floral decoration and the other is decorated with a carved bird. The colors on both Chinese soapstone vases and lids are rich shades of rust, beige and black. Each vase is ~ 6¾" in height and is attached to a carved soapstone base, which is 1½" in height. The total height of each piece, with lids in place is, ~11¼". Their condition is very good, with only one barely visible small area on the edge (mainly underside) of one of the lids. A rare find!

Antique Chinese soapstone sculpture of dragon and two black scaled fish. This nicely detailed carved piece has attractive coloration and rests on an attached dark brown reticulated base. Unfortunately, part of the dragon’s tail is missing, as can be seen at the arrow in the second photo. Height: ~9¼".
