This is a beautiful antique Victorian or Edwardian large guilloche' enamel brooch. It has PAT RD 1909 on the back. The brooch appears to be either gold washed or brass. The brooch has a raised shield in the center with a maple leaf on it. The maple leaf has shades of orange, red and green shiny enamel sitting on a background of white enamel. The large oval portion of the brooch has purple or lavender guilloche' enamel around the center opening. It has a row of small dots covered in green enamel on the outer edge. The brooch measures 2-1/2 inches long and 1-3/8 inches wide. It has a C clasp. The brooch is in very good condition with one small spot of wear to the green enamel covering a dot on the outer edge which could be a popped bubble in the enameling.
