2186

Vintage Shiny Brite Glass Tree Ornament Merry Christmas Ball Vintage glass ball Christmas tree ornament marked on the silver cap "Shiny Brite, Made in U.S.A." This is a bright magenta colored ball stating "Merry Christmas" in script on two sides in white paint with two holly leaves painted underneath.

This old holiday ornament has a diameter of about 2 1/2 inches and a height of about 3 inches from the bottom of the ball to the top of the flat cap (not including the looped wire hanging ring). Cap seems firmly attached.

We've tried to show all sides in the 8 images. Please note that the camera light causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth shiny surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very nice vintage condition with no chips, cracks, pieces missing, but having expected age, use, handling, storage wear. Both Merry Christmas words are all there, as are 3 of the 4 holly leaves, with the 4th leaf mainly there but showing some wear to the white outlining. It is the shiny magenta colored areas of the ball which show much usual age/use/surface wear consisting of rubbed spots, dots & scratches through the top coloring showing the silver underneath, general spotting wear, light surface discoloration, etc. Nothing unusual here, usual type wear for vintage ornaments, which adds to the aged look, charm and believeability of age of this piece.

Click for more detail...

2212

Vintage Mid-Century Japan Santa Claus on Sled Christmas Tree Ornament Fun vintage Christmas Tree ornament out of a home. This is a figural Santa Claus riding on a sled. Has a paper label attached to underside of sled stating "Made in Japan" so we believe this to be a mid-century piece, post World War II, from the 1950s-1970s, although we don't know for certain.

Made of cloth, felt and pipe cleaners with plastic boots on his feet. Primarily red & white in coloring, with black for the boots, and having a gold lame type cloth collar under his beard that you really only see from the backside of the ornament. His face is a beige felt with black eyes, red circle mouth and white felt eyebrows, mustache and beard. Santa is holding a slightly curved white pipe cleaner that we guess is meant to be a plant piece or small tree, but we aren't certain. There is a gold hanging loop attached to the point of his red cap (under a circular white piece meant to be the ball at the end of his cap). The sled is candy cane red & white striped, a bendable one-piece construction with a red cardboard type piece on which Santa Claus is seated, not sure what it is on the inside of the bendable piece but fully covered on the outside with twisted strands of felt/fabric.

Measures about 3 3/4 inches in length x about 3 1/2 inches in height to the top of his head x about 1 1/2 inches in depth. Lightweight, weighing only half an ounce, this will be shipped in a box for safety.

Excellent condition with no major flaws. Everything seems present, with no pieces missing. In places there are excess strands/strings from the felt or gold lame collar but not bad at all (you could clip these off). In some places there is a touch of dust or light dirt (a tad on his face) or slight fabric wear as to be expected for an older used item, but really very clean and in great shape to hang on your tree. Please examine the images closely, using the zoom feature.

We are listing many other Christmas ornaments. Click for more detail...

1880

Vintage Germany Car Mercury Glass Christmas Ornament Wht Mica Glitter Nifty vintage mercury glass Christmas ornament which came out of a home. This is a car which hangs from the rear trunk (perhaps to look like it is driving down a steep hill or mountain?). The car Christmas ornament was made in Germany as indicated by the country name on the gold-colored metal hanging cap, and it looks like a German model car to us, kind of like an elongated Volkswagen Beetle type car (without being an exact Volkswagen Beetle).

Measures about 3 1/4 inches long to the cap, 3 3/4 inches long with the hanging loop, 1 1/2 inches wide and 1 5/8 inches in depth.

This is an all-over painted glass ornament with white mica glitter accents in some spots. The base car is a silvery white color with red paint on the roof and trunk hood, gold paint on the front hood, blue above the 4 wheels and green on the 4 wheels. White mica has been added on top to trim the side windows and door jamb, the back window, and for 3 dots above the two front wheels. There is a slightly raised "S" on the underside of the car.

We've provided 8 images to show from all angles. Please use the zoom feature to examine the images closely. The cap and hanging loop sit tightly and are fine for use. If you lift this up gently there is one spot under the cap which has a curved chip, but nothing bad at all and it is fully covered by the cap so no problem here.

Excellent condition with no chips (beyond the under cap one noted above), cracks, crazing. There may be some minor evidence of age/use/wear but really nothing is jumping out at us here. This likely was hung/used in its former home but it was well taken care of. The white mica glitter looks all there and fine, but as with any item using glitter, it is possible that some will come off in handling and perhaps in shipping as often occurs.

Fully ready to hang on your tree or give as a gift to a car enthusiast.

We are listing many other Christmas ornaments. Should you be interested in more than one listing, please contact us prior to placing the order so that we can provide you with shipping cost savings by packing them in one package. Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1946: Vintage Colombia Glass Christmas Ornament Green Pickle Cucumber

Click for more detail...

1946

Vintage Colombia Glass Christmas Ornament Green Pickle Cucumber Nifty vintage glass Christmas ornament marked Colombia on the gold tone metal cap. In the shape of a pickle or cucumber done in in a bright neon-type medium green color (not a duller, more olive green color like one sees for many pickles in person). This came out of a home and has no other manufacturer marking.

Measures 4 1/4 inches long to the top of the ring on the cap. Slightly curved in shape, this pickle is about 1 1/4 inches wide or deep at any point There are two prominent raised lines along two sides of the ornament, which we believe are glass mold lines. The pickle also has an indented curved line along the backside as part of its shape/molding.

We've provided 5 images to show from varied angles. The camera lighting creates white "hot spots" on the highly reflective surface. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely. We were not able to show the Colombia marking on the topside of the gold cap, but we guarantee it is there and that you can read this in person.

Attractive overall condition with no chips, cracks, pieces missing. This does have surface wear via many spots where the top green paint is worn such that you see spots of the silver base glass coloring, as well as some surface scratches and other general wear. But we don't feel this is bad nor unexpected for an older ornament which was used and enjoyed, and handled many times with packing and unpacking, and don't believe this detracts from the great colorful look.

We are listing many other Christmas ornaments. Should you be interested in more than one listing, please contact us prior to placing the order so that we can provide you with shipping cost savings by packing them in one package. The system will automatically provide shipping costs for each listing as if mailed separately. We would be pleased to calculate and provide the postage savings for you.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 2172: Vtg Christmas Santa Claus Aluminum Cookie Cutter Green Wood Handle

Click for more detail...

2172

Vtg Christmas Santa Claus Aluminum Cookie Cutter Green Wood Handle This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1940s, although we don't know the age for certain. This is a Christmas cookie cutter or vintage holiday cutter in the shape of Santa Claus carrying his sack or bag of toys on his back. It measures about 3 9/16 inches long, 2 1/4 inches wide and sits about 1 1/2 inches in height to the top of the wood handle.

While the handle is fully attached to the old cookie cutter and will not come loose, it is not tight and has some "play room". If you shake the cookie cutter holding the handle, the base aluminum portion shakes and can be spun around freely in the air if you push it. The handle does not sit totally straight when viewed from the side, but at a slight angle, due to some denting/pushing in of the aluminum as will be further explained below. The outer edges of this cutter are smooth, they are not ridged or scalloped.

The old cookie cutter came out of a home and is in vintage used shape as it was likely used in a lot of baking cookies. The top aluminum surface is not flat as when it was made, but is lower or pushed in around the handle, causing concave sections to the topside of the head, shoulder and front body portions of this cutter (the denting is most pronounced to the head portion). You can also see the curves when looking from the underside of this piece. This piece sits flat on a table (and does not wobble when placed on a table), with very slight differences in spots as to how flat the cutter lays against the table (ie. a few spots sit higher from the table, but not bad at all). There is a tiny spot on the head where the aluminum lower side edge has been pushed in or pushed up a tad where it meets the table.

The aluminum portion has expected wear from scratches, scuffs, rubbed spots, a few dark dots, perhaps a few tiny pin rust dots, some light spotting, and other signs of wear. The wood handle also shows age/use wear via a vertical paint wear line on one side, paint wear around the base, other dots of paint wear, black dotting/wear on/near the handle top, with other general use wear.

Fun cookie cutter that would make a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles. Would also make a nice addition to any grouping of Santa Claus or Christmas collectibles. With the holes in the aluminum top, a crafty person could also string wire and hang this as an ornament on a Christmas tree as a fun addition.

Please note that we have other cookie cutters, many other kitchen items, and many other Christmas items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one listing, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one listing and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one listing shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you).

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1925: 1950s/60s Murano Italian Art Glass Ferro & Lazzarini Angel w/Label

Click for more detail...

1925

1950s/60s Murano Italian Art Glass Ferro & Lazzarini Angel w/Label Lovely vintage clear glass standing angel figure or figurine, measuring about 6 5/8 inches in height, about 3 3/16 inches in depth (from front to outer tip of dual wings on backside), and 2 inches in width or diameter of the circular base.

This is a vintage Murano glass or Italian Art Glass piece, still having its original red & gold triangular label attached near the lower side base, which states "Italy Murano Glass" along with the manufacturer name, "Ferro & Lazzarini". There is no other signature marking on the piece.

Neatly shaped old glass angel with a round halo on its head, sculpted hands clasped in the front and 2 separate sculpted wings on the backside, each having 2 points. There are lines/ridges on the hair which looks to be hanging down past the neck of this angel, so we think it is meant to depict a girl or female angel. There are no sculpted facial features (no eyes, nose, mouth or ears). While there are two molded lines on either side of her neck, these do not go vertically down the full piece. There are a number of bubbles in the glass, so perhaps this was blown into a mold of some sort, we can't tell for sure, as well as some light lines in the glass as made.

From the label, look and older home which this came out of, we believe this to be a vintage piece from the 1950s or 1960s. We don't know the age for certain, but we do not believe it to be a new piece. This piece is not flimsy and has some weight to it, weighing over one pound unpacked.

We've provided 8 images to try and show from all angles including two close-ups of the manufacturer label. Please note that the camera lighting creates white highlights or hot spots on the glass. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Wonderful overall condition with no major large chips, scratches, pieces missing, but it does show a bit of evidence of age/wear. Along the bottom rim of the piece there are many minor flakes or very very tiny chips from years of sitting and likely picking up, putting down and packing away. None of these are bad and none are noticeable when on display but you can feel these with a finger and see them in person if you look very closely. We do not see any other chips/flakes. Near the angel's neck in front and on one side, there are some lines, straw marks and/or scratches on the top surface of the glass (in roughly 5 small spots). We can't tell if some or all of these were made in the forming of the angel or happened with handling over the years. Since we think someone probably handled/carried this holding the sides near the base, in areas which don't show wear, we suspect these marks were made in forming the neck or separating the piece from a mold or a glass forming tool, but don't know that for certain. You won't notice these when on display, but if you go looking you will see them. These are a few stray scratches from age/wear (nothing bad) and perhaps some other general wear/handling, but really nothing to worry about with this piece.

A great addition to any Murano glass or Italian Art Glass collection, or one related to Ferro & Lazzarini pieces in particular. Also a nice piece to add to any collection of angels or Christmas décor in general.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 2210: Vintage Japan Christmas Ornament Marching Band Musician Bear Flute

Click for more detail...

2210

Vintage Japan Christmas Ornament Marching Band Musician Bear Flute Nifty find out of a home. This is a vintage hanging Christmas Tree ornament with a tag marking "Made in Japan" on the backside, so it is likely from the 1950's - 1970's period. It is a bear dressed in a Marching Band uniform who looks to be carrying a flute in his/her hands. It is possible that this is meant to be a baton like the leader of a Marching Band might carry, but from the outfit and the way the silver item is carried, we think this bear is a musician in the band who plays a flute.

Fully formed figure, made of fuzzy materials or flocking or cloth, with the uniform made of felt and the flute a rolled silver paper type item. Measures about 5 inches greatest length not including the hanging loop, about 2 5/8 inches greatest width from hand to hand, and about 1 7/8 inches greatest depth. Lightweight, weighing almost .4 ounces, this will be shipped in a small box for safety.

The hanging loop is neatly made a part of the outfit, seeming to be the gold vertical decoration on his hat but then extending further to the full loop. His uniform is red with red pants and suspenders (no shirt) and a red hat with gold trim and a slight black front piece. The bear is a nice fuzzy light beige/light brown color with a white formed nose, white felt on the interior of his ears and on the ends of his hands/paws and feet, with felt eyes of light blue with black pupils. There is also a small light blue bow tie hidden beneath the flute he is holding.

Very nice overall condition with no major flaws but there is some age/use wear. We see a bit of unravelling of the silver paper of the flute on one end but not bad. There is a bit of white form and flocking missing on one spot of his nose where it meets his face on his right side with a small curved indent here. We don't know if he was slightly marred in storage or bumped up to something, etc., but this doesn't jump out at you or would likely be noticed when hanging on a tree. There are some glue remains on his clothes as made, some very light spots in places which may be wear/dirt, other touches of light dirt, and likely other slight age/use/storage wear, but nothing to worry about here.

Please review the images, using the zoom feature for closer examination.

We have listed many other Christmas ornaments. Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1885: Vintage West Germany Mercury Glass Christmas Ornament Boot Shoe

Click for more detail...

1885

Vintage West Germany Mercury Glass Christmas Ornament Boot Shoe Nifty vintage mercury glass Christmas ornament which came out of a home. This is a boot or shoe which, from the style, could be meant to be one of Santa's boots (or a boot belonging to Santa Claus). The old Christmas ornament was made in West Germany as indicated by the country name on the silver-colored metal hanging cap.

Measures about 2 7/84 inches high to the cap, 3 3/8 inches high with the hanging loop, 2 1/4 inches wide and 1 7/8 inches in depth.

This is an all-over painted glass ornament with molding to simulate fur along the top of the boot. The base shoe color is a silvery white as shown on the top and bottom sides, with a metallic red for the basic boot color. On one side the boot has been adorned with some green leaf holly having red berries.

We've provided 8 images to show from all angles. One image has been shot without the camera lighting to help in seeing some of the details. Please use the zoom feature to examine the images closely. The cap and hanging loop sit tightly and are fine for use. If you lift this up gently the top rim of the neck glass is not smooth across, perhaps this is some slight chipping, but it also may be as made, and the cap fully covers all this so no problem here.

Excellent condition with no chips (beyond the under cap note above), cracks, crazing. There is minor expected age/use/storage wear via tiny scratches, some spots where you can see the silver mercury glass from some tiny paint wear, spots/dots/wear spots/tiny dark lines, etc., but nothing really bad and nothing unexpected for an old ornament which was used and enjoyed. Ready to hang and add sparkle and color to your Christmas tree.

Vintage Made in U.S.A. Glass Christmas Tree Ornament Red Ball Stars Vintage glass ball Christmas tree ornament marked on the silver cap "Made in U.S.A." but no specific manufacturer name. This is a lovely traditional deep red colored Christmas ornament ball with a painted white decor on two sides which almost encircles the entire center of the ball, consisting of 5 pointed stars of varied sizes and curved, entwined lines.

This old holiday ornament has a diameter of about 2 1/2 inches and a height of about 3 inches from the bottom of the ball to the top of the flat cap (not including the looped wire hanging ring). Cap with hanging loop are firmly attached for hanging, but you can lift this cap up higher if you choose to look underneath.

We've tried to show all sides in the 8 images. Please note that the camera light causes yellow, orange and white "hot spot" reflections and room reflections on the smooth shiny surfaces. There are no yellow, orange or pink spots on this old ball, or white beyond the decoration. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very nice vintage condition but does show some age/wear/use & storage wear but not bad. You won't see any chips, cracks or pieces missing when hanging on a tree, but if you lift up the hanging cap you will see that the neck of this ornament is not straight but angled/curved under the cap (but the cap fully hides this). The painted white decor shows some touches of wear but not bad overall, with some white paint flaking and unevenness in varied spots. In the decor areas, as with the remainder of the red ball areas, there is some of the usual age/use/surface wear consisting of dots & scratches through the top red coloring showing the silver underneath, rubbed spots, discoloration spots (light and dark), general light spotting/surface wear, etc. Nothing unusual here, usual type wear for vintage ornaments, which adds to the aged look, charm and believeability of age of this piece.

Click for more detail...

1947

Vintage Clear Glass Berry Christmas Ornament, Worn Red Paint, Pontil This is a very old thin walled clear glass Christmas ornament. In has a clear rounded pontil dot on the bottom, so we believe it to be hand blown, perhaps into a mold, but we don't see any mold lines. The glass is formed into a bumpy rounded shape so we believe this was meant to be reminiscent of a berry of some sort (it could be meant to be a nut, but with the red paint we mention below, it seems more likely to us that this would be a berry).

The ornament has a slightly elongated thin neck. There is no top cap, just an old metal hanger inserted into the top. We don't know if this originally had a top cap or not, this is how we got it out of an older home. The glass at the top rim is not chipped, so if it once had a cap, it does not appear to have lost it due to breakage. The hanger holds firmly to the glass so it is good for hanging.

As you can see in the six images, originally this berry was painted red, but most of the red paint is long gone, with just enough left to suggest what was there and give this that neat aged look (think shabby chic). This may have once had other colored paint, as there are browner paint remains on the rest of the ornament.

Measures just under 2 inches in length to top of curved metal hanger, about 1 1/4 inches in width and depth. While overall round, this is not perfectly round as made, with a slant to one bottom side edge.

From the size, thin walled glass, paint condition and overall style, our guess would be this ornament dates to the 1920s period, however we can't guarantee that. There is no manufacturer or country of origin marking on this ornament.

There are no chips, cracks, pieces missing, with the paint condition mentioned above and the lack of a topside cap being the main condition issues. But we think this all adds to the believability of age here, and it is becoming harder to find older ornaments of this type. Please use the zoom feature to examine the images closely.

2211

Vintage Hanging Christmas Tree Ornament Figure Santa Claus Waving Fun find out of a home. This is a vintage Christmas Tree figural ornament of Santa Claus. Appears to be made with a formed plastic or rubber face with a fully formed body that is covered in flocking, felt or fabric. White pipe cleaners are used for the outfit and hat trim, with a wider pipe cleaner for his beard. He has a black plastic glued belt with a gold paper belt buckle.

Santa has one hand up in the air and appears to be waving. The figure has a formed hanging loop near the top of his hat, through which there is a double knotted gold cord for hanging (it's as if one end of the cord may have broken at some past point so the prior owner re-knotted the cord, it is fully hangable).

This vintage ornament measures about 3 3/4 inches greatest length/height (not including the gold hanging cord), about 3 inches greatest width and about 2 inches in depth. Lightweight, this ornament weighs just under a half ounce, and will be shipped in a box for safety.

Very nice used condition and with a neat vintage or older look, with no chips, cracks, pieces missing. The red coloring of this piece is not a bright "Stop sign" red, but has a muted, older-looking red color. This was perhaps caused by some fading over time (we estimate this ornament to be mid-century, dating from the 1940s-1960s but don't know for certain, there is no manufacturer or country of origin marking).

The overall older appearance is supportive of its age and use. It is slightly dirty/dusty, with spots of dust/dirt and glue residue (particularly on the front side below his white coat trim above one leg), some slightly worn fabric areas, etc., but nothing out of the ordinary. Please examine the images closely, using the zoom feature.

Click for more detail...

1945

Nifty Vintage Mercury Glass Christmas Ornament Red Train Engine Nifty vintage mercury glass Christmas ornament which came out of a home. This is the engine or first car of an old-time steam train. There is no indication of manufacturer or country of origin on the bright gold metal cap, which also has hanging near it a gold metal piece in the shape of an old-time 1930s radio, so perhaps this is a specialized tag for a specific manufacturer.

Measures about 3 inches high to the top of the hanging metal loop, 2 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/4 inches in depth. This is an all-over painted glass ornament. It is a bright shiny red train engine, with black & silver for the wheels, gold & silver for the front "cow nudger" triangular part, black for the top steam pipe and green for the roof on the train car. There is gold glitter decoration on the train as well as white paint with white mica glitter for the steam coming out of the pipe and across the top of the train.

We've provided 3 images to show from varied angles. Please use the zoom feature to examine the images closely.

Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing. On the underside there is a touch of paint wear showing dots of the base silver glass as well as other very minor wear. There are other pin dots of silver which can be seen among the red paint, but no significant paint wear. The gold metal cap appears to fit tightly and can't be lifted up. There may be other minor evidence of use/age/storage wear as expected of an item that was used/hung on a tree, but nothing bad that jumps out at us. This train engine ornament is in great shape and ready to hang on your tree.

Click for more detail...

2185

Vintage Hanging Christmas Tree Ornament Figure Mrs. Santa Claus Rubber Neat find out of a home. This is a vintage Christmas tree ornament figure of what we believe to be Mrs. Claus or Mrs. Santa Claus. She is made of soft rubber (you can squeeze her) with felt and cloth applied to the body for her clothes. There is no manufacturer or country of origin marking on this piece, but our best guess is that this is from the 1950's or 1960's, likely made in Japan, and a mid-century modern ornament. It is definitely an older piece and not new.

This old Mrs. Claus has a wonderful fully formed face with smiling cheeks, blue eyes with dark long lashes, white eyebrows and bangs for her hair, a red smiling mouth and even forehead lines to suggest her age. To us, with her outstretched arms and one foot slightly in the air, we think she is playing, running or even ice skating (although there are no skates on her feet). They have used white pipe cleaners to trim her red hat (which has a small pipe cleaner pom pom at the end), and to suggest the neck and bottom of her dress. The red hat and her red body is all made of a flocked or felt-type material. She is wearing a red checked cloth apron that is tied with a green ribbon with the ribbon ends flowing in the back. She must be wearing red flocking gloves (you don't see her hands) with white trim at her wrists, and her legs/feet are also the red flocking (no visible separate shoes).

Measures about 3 5/8 inches long/tall, with a greatest width of about 2 1/2 inches and depth of about 1 1/2 inches. There is a gold cord looped through a curved wire in her hat for ease in hanging (she cannot stand on her own). She is light in weight, weighing just under 3 1/2 ounces unpacked, and will be shipped in a box for protection.

We have provided 8 images to show from varied sides and angles, including a close-up of her face. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on her rubber face. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

While appearing in very nice condition overall, please note in the last image that this vintage Mrs. Claus ornament has a small hole in the bottom of one foot. We don't know if this is how she was made or if someone did this later to try and put her on a stand so that she could be displayed upright on a table. Otherwise, we don't see any chips, cracks, crazing or pieces missing. There is a bit of dust on her clothes, occasional spots/wear spots, a bit of red flocking missing in spots, etc., other general light wear. As made, there are touches of dried glue in spots and the white trim around one wrist does not completely encircle that wrist in the back. But nothing bad here at all.

A great vintage collectible ornament to hang on your holiday tree.

Click for more detail...

2202

1950s/60s Ninohira Japan Elf Santa Claus Christmas Ornament Figure Nifty find out of a home. This is a vintage figural Christmas tree hanging ornament which is meant to portray either one of Santa's elves or Santa Claus himself, we are not sure. Body is formed from soft rubber (you can squeeze this), with red felt for his hat that is trimmed in white around the hat base and a white pom pom end, and fake stringy fur for his soft beard. He is shown dressed in a Santa Claus suit which is red with white trim and a black belt, with black boots or shoes and must be wearing red gloves as his hands are red. What is most fun is his wonderful face, fully formed with big ears (or hair over his ears), puffy happy cheeks, a big pointed nose, raised white eyebrows, blue eyes with black centers and a red smiling mouth.

Measures about 4 1/2 inches tall, with greatest width of 2 3/4 inches across his ears and greatest depth of about 1 3/4 inches. There is a long gold plastic cord attached to his hat for hanging on a tree but he can also stand upright on his boots on a table. This old holiday ornament figure is light in weight, weighing about .6 ounce. He will be shipped in a box for protection.

This vintage Santa Claus is marked in two places. On the back of his head is an impressed "JAPAN". On the underside base of one foot is impressed "NINOHIRA JAPAN". From the style and markings we believe this to be a vintage ornament dating from the 1950's or 1960's, a mid-century modern piece, but we don't know that for certain. It is definitely not a new item.

We've provided 8 images to show this vintage elf from varied angles including a close-up of the Ninohira Japan mark on the underside of one boot. Please note that the camera light creates white "hot spot" reflections on the rubber surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very nice vintage used condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or large flaws, but this does have an overall old used/aged look as one would expect with some wear/flaws but nothing bad here. His face is a bit dusty/dirty with tiny dirt in the recessed areas as well as either old glue or dirt on his chin right above the beard, and the edge where the beard is glued looks aged/yellowed/slightly brown. The backside of his head where the hat is glued has something similar. There is a bit of dirt/dust in his beard and his felt hat has a touch of wear (nothing bad). On the back of his head on the rubber there is a bit of wear/spotting/rubbed wear, with also a rubbed wear spot on one ear/hair on the side. His clothed rubber body looks good and clean. You might be able to gently clean his face and the dust off with a Q-tip, but we did not want to attempt that and are selling as is/as found.

A great addition for any Christmas tree or a grouping of elves or Santa Claus figures.

Click for more detail...

2198

Vintage 1960s Candy Cane Person Man Christmas Tree Hanging Ornament Fun vintage Christmas Tree hanging ornament. This is what we would call a Candy Cane Person or Candy Cane Man or Candy Can Boy ornament (doesn't look like a girl to us). It came out of a home and from the style we would guess this was made in the 1960s likely by a company from Japan, but there is no manufacturer or country of origin marking on this piece, so we can't guarantee the age here but it is definitely not new.

Made from a combination of materials but not from real candy canes. This uses two fake candy canes to form the person body, held together by a felt belt piece, onto which are attached two arms and the head of the figure who is wearing a decorated hat like one would see someone wearing when participating in a Marching Band. The candy canes appear to be made of a paperboard that is covered with a white exterior around which has been wrapped a red cellophane type ribbon. From the backside you can see that the head is attached to the canes using a pipe cleaner and we are guessing that the arms of this figure are also made from pipe cleaners that have been covered with felt for the clothing.

The head is made from a flocked or felt type material as it has a soft fur-type feel with formed ears on each side. The hat appears to be made of felt with ribbon adornment. There are gold seals with one attached on the felt belt, two at the front of the felt red cape the figure wears, and a fourth seal on the front of the hat. The figure's two hands in front are covered with a fur-type soft material. There are glued paper eyes (with an extra spot of white glue or other substance near one eye), with a red felt dot nose and curved smiling mouth. The ends of the candy canes at top are covered with the red cellophane ribbon, but the bottom ends are open, The original twisted silver hanging string piece is still fully attached to the top of the hat and usable. Everything is still attached nicely but if you shake this piece, the head will shake slightly.

Measures about 7 inches greatest length, about 3 1/2 inches width across the candy cane curves, about 3 3/8 inches width across the candy cane ends, and about 1 1/2 inches depth to the head. This old ornament is light in weight, weighing about .6 ounce. It will be shipped packed in a box for best protection.

We've provided 8 images to try and show from varied angles and sides, including a close-up of the front of the head and upper body. In the first image the vintage ornament is being held up by the hanging string to better show how it might look hanging on a Christmas tree. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very nice vintage condition with no large flaws, pieces missing or broken, but does have an older aged, slightly worn look as one would expect rather than looking brand new. Nothing appears missing to us, unless the bottom ends of the candy canes were once covered in the red cellophane ribbon like the top ends, we're not sure. This piece doesn't look dirty, but it has that slightly worn old or dusty look, with some slight dirt or dust from use/time but we have not attempted to clean. You can see several frayed strings from the belt felt edge, some slight dust/dirt/light spotting on the peach or flesh colored head and on the red felt hat, some dust and tiny dot spotting on the blue shirt arms and red cape in the back, some stray colored marks on the candy canes, a bit of unravelling to the red cellophane ribbon on one candy cane near the bottom, etc., other slight general wear/age wear/storage wear. But none of this is bad and all adds to the believeability of age and the charm of this piece.

A great eye-catching vintage Christmas ornament addition for any Christmas tree....just don't let the kids reach for this to try and eat the candy canes!
