1911 Women Invitation Card for Friendly Hour After the Men's Supper Fun antique find out of a home. An original antique invitation card from 1911, inviting women to a gathering or reception after a Men's Supper. There is no indication of where this would occur or what persons or organization was involved. It could have been related to a church supper or one held at a men's only lodge or organization (such as Mason's, Elks, etc.) or even a Veterans group hall (such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars), we don't know.

The vintage business size card measures 4 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches in height, and appears to be of some standard card paper stock. It is black printing in a script font on light beige colored paperboard stock (this may originally have been white stock that faded to the light beige color over time). It states:

Card of Invitation
For the Women at Home
For Monday Evening, March 13th, 1911
At Nine o'clock
To a Reception after the Men's Supper
To spend a friendly hour
This card admits Two Women only

We wonder whether the women are being invited to meet with the men (to perhaps encourage potential relationships), or just to socialize with other women who had not been included in this supper which appears to have been intended for the men only....who knows?

Very nice overall condition with no tears, chips, or corners missing, but with some slight signs of wear/age/storage wear. On the front side there are two slight vertical dirt/smearing lines along the bottom edge that extend into two of the words which could be the result of how this ephemera piece was stored over the years (perhaps paper clipped onto something else, we're not sure, we received it loose, not in a sleeve). There is also very slight wear to the outer tips of several corner points on the topside (and/or bottom side), and on the back side of the card there is very light smudging/lines/faint dirt appearance. But still overall very clean and crisp looking and easy to read.

Please review the included images using the zoom feature. This will be shipped in a sleeve then encased in cardboard (to prevent bending), within a padded envelope.

An interesting piece to add to a variety of ephemera type collections.

2295

1910 Pa School Souvenir Booklet Distr. #13 Lower Towamensing Carbon Co Nifty find out of a home. This is an antique end of year school graduation booklet souvenir from 1910. In the early 1900's, teachers would give these out to their students as a keepsake. Sometimes, as in this case, there would be a photo of the teacher pasted onto the front cover.

This booklet was given out by a male teacher, E. W. Cope, at the Stroup's Valley School, District No. 13, in Lower Towamensing Township, in Carbon County, Pennsylvania (PA, Pa.). The antique booklet measures 3 1/2 inches in width x 5 inches in height. It has thick stock paperboard front and back covers with 8 inner pages of thinner paper (some of a more tissue type paper). The covers (and pages) are pieces that have been folded in half, with the inner pages connected to them via orange colored double strings through holes on the left side. The strings are then tied on the outside of the booklet, with long, frayed red tassels. The booklet weighs about 1/2 ounce unpacked and will be shipped in a sleeve, encased in cardboard, within a padded envelope.

Inside the names of the 15 students are listed, who appear to come from just three families given their last names, the Stroup, Snyder and Beer families. It may be that they were organized into three grades within a one room school house by the way the names are arranged on the page, we don't know that for certain. The first group is listed as Irene E. Stroup, Mary A. Snyder, Helen M. Stroup, Nettie I. Stroup and Thomas A. Stroup. The second group is George L. Snyder, Blanche E. Snyder, John D. Snyder, Ralph A. Stroup and Clark A. Stroup. The third group is William F. Beer, Florence V. Stroup, Edith C. Stroup, Ada N. Beer and Della I. Snyder.

On this third page of the booklet, it also lists key staff associated with the school. James L. Bevan is listed as Co. Supt. for County Superintendent. Under him it lists the School Board, with Wm. Lewis, Secretary; Richard Green, Treasurer; Wm. George, Librarian; and then three other members, Wm. Gruber, S. E. Kunkle and J. Petid. (We've listed all these names in case anyone is searching eBay for ephemera related to any of these people.)

We think teachers ordered these vintage school booklet souvenirs pre-printed in advance from a printer or manufacturer. This one appears to have been printed by Seibert Printing Company of Canal Dover, Ohio, as this appears under one of the poems at the bottom of an inner page.

We've provided images of the front and back covers as well as all printed pages within the booklet (two pages were left blank), so you should be able to get an idea of the enclosed poems and the illustrations. There is also a close-up image of the teacher photo on the front cover. The book uses single color printing in a sepia or brown tone, with the pages/covers likely faded over time from perhaps white to the current beige/tan. On the front cover at the top the former owner has written their initials in script, H. M. S., so we think this was given to one of the students, Helen M. Stroup (the initials appear to be written in pencil but we are not erasing them as we consider them part of the piece and its authentication). We know this dates from 1910 as that year appears on the first page within the printed, "Greetings From Your Teacher 1910".

This antique ephemera piece is in wonderful condition for its age, not "new or mint" looking, nor would we expect it to be, but with expected signs of age and handling. There is some brown spotting on the front cover (although much of it somewhat can be seen as fading into the decor here, too, except for one larger brown spot near the upper right), with other spotting/wear/slightly dirty look to the back cover. However the inside pages, while the paper has faded in time, look clean and crisp. We see no tears, rips folded pages, edge problems, etc. (from the side images you can see there is some slight waving to the paper covers, likely due to handling, but not bad). There is a bit of stray print dots and perhaps some slight smearing from the printing in places, but nothing bad and as made. The binding strings are firmly there, although the end red tassels appear very worn and frayed, as you can see in the images.

A fun piece to give as a gift for any teacher or educator. Would make a nice addition to any school or education oriented collection, as well as one related to any of the families of the students or teacher, or one related geographically to Stroup's Valley, Towamensing Township or Carbon County, Penna.

2286

Vtg North Sea Yacht Club Drinking Glass Cut Crystal Sailing Boating Wonderful vintage drinking glass, likely a bar glass or barware, in cut crystal with nautical decor and gold line trim. A possible souvenir piece for the North Sea Yacht Club with that stated on the glass along with two three color flags in white, yellow and red with black outlining.

A quick internet search didn't turn up any information on a club with just this name, but we found information regarding the Royal North Sea Yacht Club in Oostende, Belgium. We don't know that these two are the same club, but images of the club flag on their website appear to match one of the flags (the one on the right, above the words Yacht Club) on this glass, so this may be from that organization. We got this out of a home and this is the only glass we received.

This glass is clear crystal (with a slight "ping" when tapped), having a neat vertical multi-layered cut design on about the bottom half of the glass. Stands about 4 1/2 inches in height with a smaller round base of about 1 7/8 inches in diameter, and sides that flare upward and slightly outward to a top opening diameter of about 2 15/16 inches. The glass has a flat underside that looks to have been nicely ground (a sign of better made glass) with several bubbles visible in the glass from the underside base. This weighs about 5.6 ounces unpacked and will be shipped in a box for safely

We've provided 8 images from a range of angles including closeups. Some images were shot with a rolled up piece of white paper inside the glass to aid in seeing the frontside flag and club name decor. Please examine closely, using the zoom feature.

Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, major flaws. This looks very clean and in good shape, as if it were just kept on a shelf rather than used, but we don't know that for certain. The two flags are outlined in black, but these lines are not sharp and solid, they appear dotted in many areas on very close inspection, which likely is how this was made, but could be some wear, we don't know, still not bad or noticeable on display. The gold trim and line are in terrific shape, perhaps with some slight wear, but nothing bad at all. There are a few pin dots in the clear glass between the two flags, and perhaps other slight age/washing/handling wear, but there is nothing to worry about here.

An impressive glass ready to use or display. Would make a great addition to any general nautical, ship, sailing or boating collection, particularly one related to yachts and yachting. Also just a fun piece to add to an elegant barware collection.

Click for more detail...

1988

1903 Sterling Silver 2 Sided Coin Holder Sovereign Case Chatelaine Neat find out of a home. This is an antique, solid sterling silver piece, weighing 24.7 grams. It is a 2 sided coin holder or sovereign case, with a locket-type thick outer piece which one opens with a fingernail where the two pieces meet. Inside is a separate part which can be pushed in on both sides so as to hold coins on both sides. The outer case closes tightly, all works well, and there is a ring on the topside so that this could be attached to a chatelaine or watch or any other type of ring holder.

Marked in two places with the word "Sterling", both on the outer hanging ring and on the inside coin piece on one side. Under the Sterling mark on the coin piece is also impressed "PAT'D 1903" so this piece has a 1903 Patent Date. From the very dark black coloring throughout this piece, which is seen with much aged sterling silver tarnishing, we do believe this is an Edwardian period piece (from 1901-1910, based on some internet research).

This solid sterling silver antique coin holder is oval in shape, with the oval case measuring about 1 1/4 inches length, about 1 1/8 inches width (including the outer hinge for the case), and 7/16 inch depth. When the hanging ring is included, the greatest length is about 1 3/4 inches. The interior coin holder itself is round, about 7/8 inch in diameter.

There is no ornamentation or engraving or initials on this piece. It is smooth, solid black in coloring and look. On the coin holder itself, there is a raised all-over design, we guess to aid in getting the coins in and out.

We've provided 8 images to try and show from all angles, inside and out, as well as a close-up of one of the markings. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Terrific antique condition. As noted prior, it is all-over dark tarnished and might not be able to be shined up to its original silver color, which is often the case with these very old sterling pieces (it would take a great deal of work to try and shine this if that could be done, we are selling as is/as found, often people want these antique pieces in as found condition). Everything appears to work fine (we provided one image with us pushing in the coin holder sections so that you can see that they move fine). This does have expected age/use/storage wear inside and out via some scratches, rubbed wear, unevenness to the tarnishing, scuffs, etc., but nothing bad at all nor out of the ordinary. No cracks, chips, breaks or crazing that we see.

Hard to find, particularly of this age and in this great vintage shape. A nice addition to any antique coin holder collection or for a collection related to chatelaine pieces. Also great for adding to a period Edwardian grouping.

Please note: This item is only available for sale within the U.S.A. and will only be shipped to postal addresses in the U.S.A.

We have many other items for sale and should you wish to purchase more than one, please contact us prior to placing the order. We can help you save postage by shipping multiple items in one package but the website is not set up to do that automatically. It will charge the shipping as if each item was shipped individually. We would be pleased to calculate the combined shipping cost for you.

Click for more detail...

1923

Advertising Mechanical Pencil The Atlantic Refining Company Scripto A neat find out of a home. This is an old or vintage advertising collectible, a mechanical pencil (lead pencil) marked or stamped along the body with "The Atlantic Refining Company". The letters were impressed into the mechanical pencil body then filled with a white paint, however, now much of this white paint is gone so the name can be hard to photograph, does not appear"bright white" in person and can be hard to read, but we guarantee this is what it says. This is marked on the clip "Scripto, Atlanta, USA", so Scripto is the manufacturer of this pencil. There are no other Scripto markings, such as item or manufacturer number.

This old mechanical pencil measures about 5 1/4 inches long from the tip where the lead would be to the end of the eraser. There is no lead currently in this pencil. You can turn the eraser part just fine as if to lengthen/show and retract lead, when you turn this all the way now you can see the tip of the metal that would sit behind any lead in the pencil. The eraser, and the mechanical pencil overall, has been used, with the eraser definitely looking dirty/darkened/rounded/used and not pristine and new, but it still retains much of its original shape. The vintage mechanical pencil is eight sided or octagon in shape and measures about 5/16 inch in width to the pencil body and 3/8 inch in width with the angular clip. The clip can not be moved. The eraser and metal below the eraser can not be removed from this mechanical pencil (you may be able to remove the eraser if you tug hard enough, but we don't want to tug that hard). The body of this vintage mechanical pencil is a true red in color. The body looks like it is made of some sort of celluloid or plastic, and could be red bakelite, but we just don't know.

We are not certain what the age is of this old mechanical pencil. From some internet research, The Atlantic Refining Company began business in 1866 in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as The Atlantic Petroleum Storage Company. By 1874 it was known as Atlantic Refining and was purchased by John D. Rockefeller and incorporated into his Standard Oil Company (Standard Oil Trust). By 1882 it had a major refining plant for petroleum in Point Breeze, Philadelphia and became a major producer of illuminating fuel for oil lamps and lighting. When Standard Oil was broken up (1911), it reverted back to its own company under The Atlantic Refining Company name. It merged with Richfield Oil Company in 1966 and became Atlantic Richfield Company or ARCO. In 1985 it was split off from ARCO and reverted back to the Atlantic name until it was purchased by Sunoco in 1988. In the mid-1990s Sunoco rebranded the Atlantic gas stations with the Sunoco name. Given all this, we are not certain of what period during the use of The Atlantic Refining Company name this mechanical pencil dates to. From the style, we would guess that this pencil dates to the 1940s/1950s period, but it is possible that it dates to the 1980s, we just don't know.

We've provided 8 images to try and show from differing angles and close-ups of the markings. Please note that the camera lighting sometimes causes white "hot spot" reflections. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Overall much used vintage condition. This mechanical pencil does not have a new, pristine appearance. It overall feels/looks used but there are no large gouges, dents, cracks, chunks missing. When you lay this mechanical pencil on a table, you can see that the body is slightly bowed as it does not lie flat on the table in the middle. It appears lightly dirty with expected use/storage wear on the body including many tiny spots, marks, rubbed spots, scratches, etc., with some very, very tiny chipping along the line edges of the body (we have not tried to clean this and are selling it as is/as found). As stated prior, the white in the Atlantic name is largely worn away and the eraser is used, looking dirty/darkened/rounded. The metal at the front of the pencil where the lead is projected is darkened/discolored and shows scrapes/wear/use marks. The clip metal has an expected worn/used look, and the metal below the eraser is very worn, having a brass type color because the silver top coloring is very tarnished/dirty/worn away. No question this piece was used and likely loosely stored, but all that adds to the believability of its age and its great vintage look.

Nice addition to any collection related to advertising collectibles from gasoline or refining companies, including Standard Oil and The Atlantic Refining Company in specific. Could also be added to a collection related to Scripto mechanical pencils, particularly advertising mechanical pencils made by that company. Could also make a nice addition to a geographical collection related to South Philadelphia or Pennsylvania industries overall.

2103

Vtg Souvenir China Large Ashtray Train Locomotive Railroad PA 7 In. Fun find out of a home. We think this is a piece of vintage souvenir china, perhaps sold at a train or railroad museum of some type, but we don't know for sure. There is no manufacturer or country of origin marking on this piece.

A very large ashtray or ash tray, made of china or pottery, basically square in shape with rounded corners. Measures about 7 3/16 inches in width, sitting about 1 1/8 inches in height. Lowered center section with upturned sides that flare up and out towards rim. Cream-colored white china base coloring with black line central enameled/slightly raised decor of a train engine or a railroad locomotive that is labelled Pennsylvania and the numbers, 5436. We do not think this is a piece of specific Pennsylvania Railroad china as it does not have the standard PRR symbol. Each side has 3 curves for resting cigarettes, so 12 cigarettes could easily rest on this piece. However, it does not look as if it was ever used. Outer edge has gold line trim. Weighs about 11 1/2 ounces unpacked.

We've provided 6 images to show this older piece from varied angles, including close-ups of the locomotive design. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the glossy surface. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or major flaws. We can see a few light surface scratches on the cream base (not on the train decor) when looked at closely held at an angle in bright light, likely from cleaning/handling, nothing bad. Looks unused, with the design and gold line trim in great shape as made. Possibly other light age/handling/storage wear, but nothing to worry about here.

2107

1962 Seattle Worlds Fair Souvenir China Dish Space Needle Monorail Nifty small vintage souvenir china dish out of a home. This is a souvenir piece from the 1962 Seattle World's Fair or Century 21 Exposition, held from April 21 to October 21, 1962 in Seattle, Washington. Graphics on the front side show and label the Space Needle in the center, and around this the Monorail, U.S. Science Pavilion, Washington State Coliseum and The Glittering Gayway, an amusement park area shown via a Carousel or Merry-go-Round and some other tents. Labelled on backside via 2 paper or foil oval labels which are still fully attached, stating "Made in Japan" and the manufacturer, "Century Souvenir Co., Inc."

Round, measuring 4 inches in diameter, with slightly upturned edges so sits about 5/8 inch in height. Weighs about 2 1/4 ounces and will be shipped in a small box for protection. This is made of porcelain or china (it is translucent), with a white base, gold line trim at the outer topside edge, and full color printed graphics. The backside has two manufactured holes in the base rim on which the piece sits, for ease in attaching a string or wire for hanging, should you wish to do so (no string or wire is currently attached to this piece).

We've provided 8 images to show from varied angles, including close-ups of the paper/foil labels and the wording. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very nice vintage condition, ready to display. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or large flaws, but this piece does show some expected age/storage wear. If viewed at an angle in bright light, there are some topside surface scratches/scratch lines in the graphics, but not bad. There are touches of topside surface wear as one would expect from age, dusting or cleaning, such as some minor wear/wear dots in some of the letters of "Seattle World's Fair", a touch of wear elsewhere on the graphics (such as on the two Monorail cars), and touches of wear on the gold line trim...but there is nothing really bad or unusual here for a piece of this age.

A neat piece to add to any collection related to the 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair or a Worlds Fair grouping in general. Also a fun addition for a collection related to the city of Seattle or Washington State in general.

2208

Vtg US Naval Academy VA Navy Metal Beer Tray Bill the Goat Mascot Nifty find out of a home. A vintage large metal beer tray with interior decor "Navy" with the United States Naval Academy mascot, Bill the Goat.

Round with a diameter of a tad over 13 inches and a height/depth of 1 1/2 inches. Unsure of metal used, likely steel, a magnet does stick to this old beer tray. This vintage tray weighs slightly over 14 ounces unpacked and will be shipped in a box.

Basic white color front and backside, with the word Navy in navy blue. The goat is done in outline form in navy blue with him carrying an anchor and wearing a Navy shirt or jacket having a large yellow "N" and a yellow star.

When we look at this, we imagine it having been used during many viewings of Army Navy Football games, but it could have been used to help celebrate any naval academy or general US Navy event.

The overall white color made this hard to photograph given how the camera light bounced back off the white smooth metal surface. We tried to shoot the 8 images in differing lighting and at differing angles, front and backsides, with two close-ups of the interior decor. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

This item exhibits wear and is not mint, it came out of a home and was used. There are no dents, bends or chips, but you can see in the images that there is much wear to the white coloring on the metal along the underside base edges and the topside rim/side rim, some of this showing as thin lines of wear, but also worn spots. The bulk of this wear occurs along the underside, but you will see the wear topside, too. There are scratches on the interior decor, particularly on the goat's Navy jacket, but also scratch spots in the word "Navy" and scrapes/lines/spots along the interior white bottom side rim and on the interior sides. We see dots of rust on the interior scraped bottom side spots and a similar touch of rust on the underside within the backside curled rim in a few spots, but rust really isn't a problem here. The outer sides also show wear including some light brown staining in two places. Other wear includes a light circular brown stain on the interior near the side, many light interior circular scratches from cleaning (seen only when held at an angle in bright light), other scratch/mar dots/spots with long scratch lines and scraped spots on the backside, etc. Not unexpected wear for something that was used and enjoyed a good bit, rather than just displayed.

Still a fun, hard to find beer tray and Navy collectible that would look terrific on display hanging on a wall.

We are also listing a different United States Naval Academy tray which came out of the same home.

Click for more detail...

2215

4 Vtg Miniature Korea Wood Nodders Bobbleheads Kokeshi Dolls Pre War Nifty find out of a home. These are 4 vintage miniature painted wood nodders of bobbles or bobbleheads, which we have also seen referred to as Kokeshi dolls (although we often see Kokeshi Dolls associated with Japan while these were made in Korea). There are 2 pairs, each consisting of a boy or man and a girl or woman. One pair is taller and thinner which we believe represent a man and woman, while the second pair is shorter and fuller, so this may represent two children, a boy and a girl. All came out of the same home together but we don't know if they were originally purchased together as a set.

There is a gold foil label on the underside base of the short girl nodder which states "Made in Korea". From the look and style, we believe these were all made in the same country at about the same time, but only one piece bears the country information (there is no manufacturer information on these pieces). Given the Korea name, we believe these vintage bobbleheads were made prior to the Korean War which took place from 1950 to 1953, so they are pre 1950's and pre Korean War, possibly made in the 1930's or 1940's, we're not sure.

The thin man is the tallest figure, standing about 2 1/2 inches in height, with a greatest width or diameter to his round head of about 3/4 inch. The thin woman stands about 2 5/16 inches in height, with a greatest width also to her round head of about 3/4 inch. The two shorter boy and girl figures stand about 1 3/8 inches in height, with a greatest width to their round bases of about 7/8 inch (which is also the approximate width/diameter of their round heads and angled round bodies). The two taller figures stand on much narrower round bases of about 1/2 inch in diameter, and as such, are very easy to accidentally knock over (this can also occur with the shorter figures but is more problematic with the taller thin ones).

In all cases, these old figures are made of two pieces of wood, with one for the body and one for the head. The head pieces seem to be inserted inside the bodies via some sort of a wood peg, but this is inserted in such a manner that the heads are attached but can bobble or shake or wobble slightly. These don't bobble as significantly as the larger nodders usually wobble, but bobble in a slighter fashion. Of the four nodders, the short boy's head bobbles the most. All heads seem well attached to the bodies, with none being able to be taken apart easily (we've not tried to separate any, and are just trying to note here that all seems attached as it should).

We've provided 8 images to show from varied angles, including a closeup of the Korea foil label. Please note that the cameral light causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth wood and painted surfaces (you will see these white spots move as you look across the images, there are no large white areas here). Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very nice collectible vintage condition but with expected evidence of age and wear. We see only one small edge chip, on the short boy along his angled body edge. The thin woman shows a good bit of crazing lines in her body paint (this doesn't show well in the images but is there). The thin man shows the most surface paint wear, with a lot of paint wear lines/spots on his body (you can see this in the images), but there is some slight evidence of paint spot wear to a much lesser degree on the other figures. The two shorter figures show a good bit of brown and other light spotting on their heads/faces, with much less face wear on the thin woman and further less on the thin man. The red wood tip on the top of the short boy's hat shows paint wear. There is other general wear on these older figures such as some scratches, spots, etc. These do not have a new, mint look, but that is to be expected given the age and style of these pieces, and how they were crafted and likely sold as souvenirs, and all supports their neat vintage look and believability of age.

These would make an interesting addition to any collection of nodders and bobble heads.

Click for more detail...

2241

Wrought Iron Cast Metal Architectural Salvage Art Wall Plaque Swirls Impressive vintage cast iron or cast metal architectural piece consisting of curves, curls, swirls and/or curlicues. A magnet sticks to this so clearly made of cast metal, but we think this is cast iron given rusting present (we are not experts here).

A heavy piece, weighing 5 pounds unpacked. Measures 18 3/4 inches greatest length, 9 1/2 inches greatest height, with a consistent depth to the metal bars used of about 1/2 inch. This may have been cast of two pieces of metal that were then held/put together with a metal bracket noticeable in one spot (please see image #9) and likely soldering in another. This may have at one time had hanging brackets attached in two spots along one edge, but these are no longer present with just odd pieces of metal remaining (please see image #12 of one of these spots). Could still be hung on wall or perhaps suspended in air via addition of your own hanging brackets, chains, etc. (no hanging materials included, just the metal piece itself as is/as found).

This came out of a home and is minimally a vintage piece, perhaps antique, we don't know. No manufacturer or country of origin marking present. We do not know how this was originally meant to be used but are guessing it was designed as a decor focal piece.

We've provided 8 images. The first four images show two views of the metal piece from each side, trying to show with curlicues extending both upward and downward to provide an idea of the differing ways this could be displayed. The remains of the original hanging brackets would have this hanging with the swirls facing downward. Since the white background of the first four images can cause the camera light to bland out some details, we've included two images shot on some gold carpeting (one of each side), which better helps to show the rusting present. The remaining two images are close-ups for better understanding the depth and some details. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Overall very nice, very usable condition, but with evidence of age & wear. From a distance this appears overall black in color, but closer you see the rusting which covers a good bit of this piece (much more visible on one side than the other). There are no pieces missing (other than the hanging brackets as stated prior) or large cracks or large chips. There are some small/tiny chips, but nothing major or to worry about at all or noticeable on display. Likely has minor edge wear, general age/use wear, a few paint spatter spots, general surface wear, etc.

Definitely would be an attention getter in any room setting. Perhaps could also be used outdoors, either attached to a home or wall or within a garden setting.

2272

Fun Set 4 Mid Century Acrylic Lucite Unicorn Napkin Rings Original Box A great gift for the unicorn lover, a vintage set of unicorn napkin rings in its original box out of a home. This set of 4 clear napkin rings comes in its yellowed/aged clear plastic box with internal felt type separator piece to keep all four pieces safely stored.

Box lid states these are Clear Acrylic Unicorn Napkin Ring (no "s"), but from some internet research we believe these may also be referred to as Lucite napkin rings. We have also seen these referred to as bearded unicorns from the molded hair piece hanging down beneath their snouts (similar to what is seen on some goats). The unicorn "horns" on these animal napkin rings are particularly nicely done with a molded swirl ridged pattern. From the style and popularity of unicorn items in the 1970s/1980s, we believe these are vintage pieces dating to the late mid century period.

Original box measures about 5 5/8 inches x 6 1/8 inches and sits 3/16 inch in height. Each unicorn napkin ring sits great on a table, with a flat underside, sitting about 2 3/4 inches in height, about 2 3/4 inches in width, and about 3/4 inch in depth. The napkin rings are each very light weight, weighing about one ounce each, with the full box weighing about 5 1/2 ounces unpacked. These would be shipped in a box for safety.

Very nice vintage used condition, ready to use and enjoy, with no chips, cracks, crazing, pieces missing on the napkin rings. On close inspection in bright light, you can see use/wear scratches on these, primarily near the bases but with stray scratches sometimes appearing elsewhere, with the amount varying by napkin ring, but these do not detract from the great overall clear, smooth look to these napkin rings. Nothing really bad, and you won't see this in use or on display, but you should know these are there. Sometimes some of the molded edges appear a little sharp to the fingertip as made (such as on unicorn horn points, ears, etc., but we don't see any tiny flakes/chips, if we are missing any they are very, very tiny).

For the box, you can see in the images that this is old looking, the plastic has yellowed with age, and is misshapen in spots (side edges are not straight lines). One box lid corner is split/torn along the edge seam, the other corner edges on top and bottom are fine. There are remains of tape on the box, and it is a bit dusty/dirty, but the box itself and the inner red divided storage piece have survived well for their age. Please examine the images closely, using the zoom feature.

We are/have listed other unicorn items for sale. If you are interested in more than one listing please contact us through the question button prior to inputting the order. The system won't automatically provide the cost savings for shipping more than one listing in the same box but we would be pleased to calculate that for you.

Click for more detail...

2282

30 lb Lubricating Oil Pressure Gauge US Gauge 2 1/2 AD-9998 Steampunk Interesting mechanical piece or piece of equipment out of a home. Appears to be a vintage oil pressure gauge made by the U S Gauge Co. NY, with the company insignia on the front, below the printed "Lubricating Oil", which would measure oil pressure up to 30 pounds (lbs.). Under the US Gauge insignia, in much smaller print that is hard to read and largely hidden by the metal piece which holds the front glass, appears "Made in U.S.A." and what we believe is the manufacturer part number or indicator, "2 1/2 AD - 9998". We couldn't get this lower information to show successfully in an image, but guarantee you will see this in person and, to the best of our ability, this is what is printed. Per some research, the US Gauge Company is now part of Ametek.

We are not familiar with these industrial gauge pieces, but just found it to be an interesting gauge that we thought perhaps someone could use for its intended original purpose or repurpose this perhaps as part of a Steampunk project. We are guessing that this was not made for automotive use or use in a car from the style, but perhaps was made for use with plumbing, heating or steam fitting machinery. We do not know if this is a working piece nor how to test it and have not tested it, but are selling as is/as found.

Metal and glass construction, heavy for its size, weighing about 12.7 ounces unpacked, and would be shipped in a box for protection. Basically round shape with outer dimensions of about 3 1/2 inches diameter and about 3 3/4 inches greatest width when including fitting at one end. Laying on a table, measures about 1 1/6 inch in height.

Vintage used condition out of a home, not new or mint looking. Not familiar with these pieces, don't know if works/not tested. Seems in good used condition, with no breaks or major flaws, glass in good shape, metal appears all present but shows some expected surface chipping, some scratches/scrapes/paint wear, other wear. Expected evidence of past paint, sealant, etc. in acceptable shape. Under the glass, gauge face shows wear marks, lines, etc. but still fully readable. We have not disassembled this piece to attempt to clean anything.

Please review images closely using zoom feature. Some appear darker as they were shot without the camera light to show piece without light reflection creating white "hot spots" and lightening some features.

Click for more detail...

2291

1940 San Francisco Golden Gate Intl Exposition Worlds Fair Ship Pin Lovely highly collectible World's Fair item out of a home. This is from the 1939-1940 San Francisco Golden Gate International Exposition World's Fair in California. An eye-catching jewelry pin in the shape of a sailing clipper ship, intended to be the Santa Maria since that is spelled out on the ship front side. There is also a round insignia having the 1940 date along with "Golden Gate International Exposition" and "San Francisco Bay" on it.

This vintage collectible is molded metal, not a flat pin, with a curve to it to show that the ship is sailing. It is a highly reflective, shiny gold tone in color (but not real gold), with green highlighting for the ocean waters at the base and white background coloring on the worlds fair insignia. There is a large Maltese Cross on the largest ship sail, with smaller crosses on two mast top flags.

Measures about 1 3/4 inches in height and about 1 1/4 inches in width, weighing about .26 ounces or 7.4 grams. One image shows the pin alongside a quarter for size comparison. We do not know the metal type but it could be brass since a magnet does not stick to this. There is no manufacturer or country of origin marking on this pin, pinback or brooch. It is signed in that the fair is noted on the piece, but not the artist or company who made it

We've provided 8 images to show from varied angles as the shiny surfaces cause strong white "hot spots" from the camera light. If you look across the images you will see that these white spots move around on the piece, so there is no gold coloring missing. We've included closeups to help with viewing detail and condition. Please examine all images closely, using the zoom feature.

Very nice condition, highly displayable and wearable, as the older C clasp closure appears to work fine. We don't see any chips, cracks, pieces missing or major flaws, but there is evidence of age, use, storage wear. On close examination there are a number of surface scratches, rubbed/wear areas, some discoloration spots, etc., but nothing bad nor that distracts from the piece, nor anything unexpected for an older piece of this age.

A great find not often seen.

Please note that we will also be listing another collectible souvenir from this 1939-1940 San Francisco World's Fair. If you are interested in both pieces, we'd be pleased to ship them together to save you on postage. The system is set up to quote shipping for each piece as if shipped separately and won't automatically provide the discounted postage. Please email us using the question button prior to entering the order and we would be pleased to calculate that for you.
