It is still the only book written exclusively about all lines of McKee glassware. It contains a complete history of the company, trademark illustrations, old advertisements, reprints of 1868 and 1880 McKee catalogs, plus extensive black & white photos and illustrations of their products, including kitchenware, lamps, pressed tableware, artware, novelties, cut glass, bottles, tumblers, fountain items, vases and floral ware, stemware, and much more.

13247

Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook 1950 First Edition, Second Printing 1950 Betty Crocker Picture Cook Book, first edition, second printing by General Mills and McGraw-Hill Book Company. This is the one our mothers and grandmothers used, and used often. The hardcover cookbook is 463 pages, fully indexed, with lots of kitchen and cooking hints, tips, and illustrated how-tos as well as well as hundreds of recipes.

The book is in very good condition with no writing, though I did note a few minor fingerprint stains on occasional pages as I thumbed through it and one page with a minor taped tear. There is very slight cover wear at the edges and minor corner bumps, but the spine is undamaged and there are no splits or loose pages. The last 20% of the pages have a small clear/white spill stain (sugar and egg whites I believe) at the lower inside corners but the pages aren't torn or stuck together. Shipping will be by Media Mail (there is no media option in the shipping calculator so just choose Priority or Parcel Post and the amount will be correct). No international shipping on this item.

10774-02

Betty Crocker's Picture Cook Book New Reissue This is the 1998 facsimile edition or reissue of the original 1950 ringbound, hard cover Betty Crocker's Picture Cook Book, published by Macmillan and General Mills. It's exactly the same cookbook as our mothers and grandmothers used, and used often, though there's a note on the cover page reminding us that Mom and Grandma may have used more salt, sugar, or fat in their cooking than we do today (the recipes have not been modified in any way). Every other page in the book is exactly like the original first edition. Buy this book if the one handed down to you by your Mom is getting old and tattered - it will keep your original from further wear while still allowing you to use the recipes from it.

The hardcover cookbook is 449 pages, fully indexed with tabbed section dividers. There are lots of kitchen and cooking hints, tips, and how-tos as well as well as hundreds of recipes. The book is in virtually mint condition and looks brand new with only one tiny corner bump to the upper front cover. Shipping will be via Media Mail - please choose the lowest rate for your zip code in the shipping calculator. No international shipping on this item.

14007

1953 Christmas Pop Up Santa Mother Goose Book In Box With Toys This Santa Visits Mother Goose pop out style children's Christmas story and activity book was published in 1953 by White Plains Greeting Card Corp. It's spiral ring bound with 26 pages and comes in its original box. Almost every page opens up to a dimensional pop-up die cut illustration, a toy or object specific to the story, or other interactive feature. All original objects are intact and included: the band-aid for pop-up Humpty Dumpty, the plastic spoon who ran away with the dish, Little Boy Blue's working toy horn, the Three Little Pigs squeaker toy, a toy parachute and fish for the three men in a tub, even the sealed bag of candy hearts for the Queen of Hearts. At the back of the book is a fold-out booklet of Mother Goose nursery rhymes.

The book is completely intact with no damage, stains, wear, or writing. All pop-ups are intact and working properly. There is nothing missing and the box is also in excellent condition. The gift inscription has not been filled out. The only thing that prevents me from saying that the book is mint is some very faint, mild age discoloration to the page edges and one corner split to the box lid. Not all pages are shown in the photos.

Lot Culinary Arts, Advertising Cookbooks, 1936 - 1949 Plus Extras An assortment of 7 vintage themed cookbooks from 1936 to 1949 plus some extras. Five are from the famed Culinary Arts Institute:

Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book 1936
250 Ways to Prepare Poultry and Game Birds 1949
500 Tasty Snacks - Ideas for Entertaining 1949
500 Delicious Dishes from Leftovers 1949
250 Ways to Serve Fresh Vegetables 1949

The other two are advertising recipe books:

Borden's Eagle Brand Magic Recipes 1946
Fleischmann's Yeast The Bread Basket 1942

Several miscellaneous smaller recipe booklets are included as a bonus:

Cooking With Seven-Up 7-Up 1957
Dainty Dishes Made of Knox Gelatine 1915

The Mrs. Price's booklet is basically an advertisement for the Price Canning Compound but it's interesting. By 1915, the Price Compound Company was sued by several states after the compound was determined to be 5% salt and 95% boric acid, a poison.

All booklets and pamphlets are in good to very good condition. The Cake Secrets booklet has a detached cover page and missing back cover.

Home Cookery Book 1956 Jean Conil Cookbook The Home Cookery Book by Jean Conil, President of the Cercle Epicurien Mondail, Published in 1956 by Methuen & Co. Ltd. in London England. 648 pages, indexed, dust jacket.

This cookbook by British chef Jean Conil concentrates on two primary food areas: the first deals with soups, meat including wild game, fish, and savoury dishes (British spelling is used), the second with sweets, pastries, cakes, and confectionery. As you can imagine, at 600-plus pages the cookbook is very thorough with a huge variety of recipes and preparation instructions. There are a few terms and ingredients that may be unfamiliar to modern American cooks such as "vanilla essence" (probably extract) and castor sugar. Fortunately any conversions you may need to make can easily be looked up on the internet. The book is in very good condition with no writing, tears, or other issues. The dust jacket has minor edge wear. Shipping will be by Media Mail - choose the least expensive shipping option to your zip code.

Covered Animal Dishes 1988 Collector ID Price Guide Book Covered Animal Dishes by Everett Grist, Copyright 1988, Published by Collector Books. Softcover, 8-1/2 by 11 inches, 119 pages, indexed.

This out of print collector's identification and value book is the only volume ever published on covered animal glass dishes regardless of manufacturer. There are some that are not animals in the book: ships, covered wagons, log cabins, and other figural dishes. The author points out known reproductions and gives dimensions, color variations, and maker as well as other information of interest. All of the photographs are in color and good quality. Of course the price guide is considerably out of date but old books like this are primarily used for identification, not valuation. In excellent condition with no damage, writing, or tears. I can ship Media Mail for less, please email for quote.

Florence Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass 7th Edition Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass Seventh Edition by Gene Florence, Copyright 1986, published by Collector Books. 8-3/4" by 11-1/4", 211 pages.

Though the prices in this classic Depression Glass identification and value book are of course out of date, I like the way the photos are arranged, showing as many pieces and colors available in each pattern as possible. The glass patterns are arranged alphabetically, with each section giving the maker, dates of production, and any alternate pattern names. Known pieces and colors are given and the author has notes on rarity factors, and tips for determining lookalikes and go-withs. The book has an excellent section on reproductions of Depression glass with clear photos and specifics on how to spot them.

Excellent condition with no writing or tears. Shipping is calculated for Media Mail. If you live outside the US or need Priority mail, please email before ordering for a shipping quote.
