It's about 11" tall and has a raised enameled gold gilt floral decoration on the front, delicate hand painted leaf decoration on the stopper and back. The glass has no chips or damage. A little textured white paint remains in some of the flower petals on the front.

15641

Carved Cork Jewelry or Keepsake Box Landscape Scenes This vintage jewelry or keepsake box has no label or markings, but it was no doubt made in China in the 1940s or 1950s. It's made entirely of carved cork and glass with the exception of the decorative bamboo ring and lid handle, and the brown rayon interior trim.

A cork clipper ship under glass decorates the lid center. Upon lifting the lid, you'll find a larger landscape scene in cork with a sailboat, trees, islands, beaches, and more. The entire interior is lined in glass. The box measures 5 by 7-3/4 by about 3 inches high. It's in excellent vintage condition with no stains or damage.

It has three two-inch deep layers and a lid or cover, with four legs on the lower box. It's lacquered hard plastic, bright brick red on the inside, with an intricate flowering tree of life design on the lid and flowering trees on all four sides in gold, red, and white on black. Click for more detail...

11461

Art Deco Celluloid 9 Piece Vanity Dresser Set With Perfume, Frame Because this Pereline celluloid vanity set includes a button hook, it probably dates to no later than the mid 1920s. Each of the nine items is decorated with an early Art Deco design of blue and slate blue-gray rectangles with black perpendicular lines on marbled ivory colored celluloid sandwiched over transparent amber.

The pieces include a perfume bottle, hairbrush engraved Pereline on the handle, clothes brush, manicure scissors, shoe horn, button hook, bladed manicure tool (possible for cuticles), lid for hair receiver (jar bottom not present), and an easel backed picture frame with the original glass. For size reference, the frame is about 6-3/4" high by 5 inches wide, the hairbrush is a little over 9 inches long, and the perfume is 4-3/4" high.

The set is in very good condition for its age with no melt marks, stains, or serious wear. There are some minor issues: the easel stand to the frame is detached at the top though the ribbon holder is still attached to the center; the inside rim of the hair receiver lid has some chips/breaks to the thin celluloid; the perfume has some solidified perfume at the top rim and one tiny chip to the edge of the square top piece; the rubber perfume atomizer has hardened; the manicure blade is banged up at the tip.

Circa: 1920

17131

Asian Style Beaded Jute, Tapestry Sewing or Storage Box I'm not sure what this Asian themed hinged lid box was meant to hold - possibly sewing items or just a general keepsake box for personal items. It's about 11 by 7 by 4-1/2 inches high, elaborately decorated with woven jute rope sides, faux pearl beads, braided trim, and wide embroidered tapestry bands. The hinged lid is covered in linen burlap and has a beaded red tassel decoration and a gold Asian symbol inside. The bottom interior has a thick clear Mylar plastic protective lining. Click for more detail...

15335

Pyrographic Handkerchief Box Filled With Hankies This early 1900s antique woodburned handkerchief box was made from a pyrography kit from the Flemish Art Company of New York. I'm selling it exactly as purchased from an Idaho estate, filled with seven vintage ladies' hankies - probably none as old as the box however.

The 6-1/4 inch hinged square box has tinted red poinsettia flowers, yellow (faded from the original green) leaves, and the word Handkerchiefs in diagonal monogram style lettering. The uncolored image is repeated on the lid interior. The box is in excellent condition with no damage and only very minimal, age appropriate wear.

The hankies include a colorful all-over floral spray signed Collette, two identical scalloped white linen hankies with cutout white-on-white embroidery at one corner, a still-starched white-on-white semi-sheer hankie with lily of the valley flowers, pale green linen with variegated pink-salmon crochet edging, lace inset sheer cotton batiste with original paper label, and a hand embroidered silk hankie - this one is older than the others. Some need to be laundered, preferably hand washed. None have any holes or tears.

11607-2

Imperial Windmill Milk Glass Dresser Tray This scalloped edge oval milk glass vanity or dresser tray was made by Imperial Glass Company. The pattern is called Windmill, originally a 1912 carnival glass design. Imperial brought it back as a milk glass in 1950, and later brought it back again in modern carnival and slag glass.

The tray measures 9-3/4 by 6-3/4 inches. In the center is a Dutch windmill landscape scene in high relief, bordered by flowers and leaves. It's in perfect condition with no damage or wear. It is unmarked, which is appropriate to the 1950 production date. The original owner had the tray displayed as a wall decoration, so I will include the wall plate hanger it came with.

Click for more detail...

13876

Celluloid Bakelite 1920s Manicure Set in Leather Case A larger 12-piece Queen brand manicure set from the 1920s. The folding case is blue leather lined in royal blue silk with silk jacquard flaps and pocket. The woven blue and white ribbon is also silk. There are two non-original tools in French Ivory celluloid - a shoe button hook and the pick with the pusher end (not sure what it's called). The all-metal blackhead tool with spear tip is original, I've seen the exact same item in other Queen kits. The other implements are layered two-tone apple juice Bakelite and marbled yellow celluloid. There's a buffer, a button hook, a shoe horn, and several nail tools I can't name. One item is a handle only, whatever the metal part was is missing.

The shoe horn has a crack to the solid colored side which does not go all the way through (picture number 7). One of the small flat nail tools has the same issue with two cracks. Everything else, including the case, is clean and in very good condition. There are no tears or holes to the case or silk fabric.

Amber Stain Czech Glass Vanity Dresser Tray This Mid Century Bohemian or Czech glass rectangular tray was probably meant to hold perfumes or vanity items. It has a reverse cut hobstar and fan pattern at the bottom and a narrow 1 inch ribbed rim with a light yellow-amber stained decoration. The tray measures 13-1/2 by 6 inches and is in excellent condition with no damage or scratches.

Lipstick Lady Figural Ceramic Vanity Lipstick Holder This lovely Southern Belle or Colonial style lady figurine typically sat on a lady's vanity and held tubes of lipstick at the base of her dress. The figurine is 6 inches high, wearing a long yellow dress with polka dots and a rust colored fading to white bodice with peplum. Her brunette hair is in a ponytail and her extended hands are raised below her neck.

The original label is missing but the book Kitchen, Bath & Beyond shows this same lipstick lady identified as being made by Commodore of Japan. There is an underglaze manufacturing flaw at the upper rim of one lipstick loop. The pottery has a scratch or rub mark in this area that is glazed over. The edge of one hand has a tiny fleabite chip along the little finger.

Circa: 1950s
Country of Origin: JP
Manufacturer: Commodore
