13641

Art Betts Mink Fur Cape Pillbox Hat and Stole Collar Set This elegant 1960s 3-piece brown mink fur set includes a cape, matching pillbox hat, and narrow stole collar, all from Art Betts Furs of Rochester Minnesota. The cape has a shawl type collar, arm slits, and hidden hook and eye closure. It's lined in brown satin, as is the hat. The stole collar has a hook closure and weighted ends. The back lining is brown velvet.

The model wears a size 10-12. The cape is 22 inches long at the center back from top of collar to hem. Width across the back shoulders is 19 inches. The hat is perhaps 7" diameter at the interior - it's hard to measure. The collar measures 39 inches long by 3-3/4" wide.

All three pieces are in excellent condition with no damage or soiling noted. I recommend cleaning as this was an estate auction purchase and nothing is known about previous ownership.

10219

3 Pair 1960s Caprice Nylon Stockings Size 11 Three unused, unopened pair of seamless micromesh nylon stockings by Caprice, all in size 11. Color is not stated on the packages, it appears to be a medium beige or taupe, neither super light nor dark. Printed near the tops of the stockings is: Seamless Micro Mesh 400 Needle First Quality 100% Nylon Made In Yugoslavia RN 35886. They have reinforced heels and toes.

The packages do have some storage wear, remnants of old store price stickers, and may have tiny tears or holes but the nylons inside are in mint, unused condition. Based on the illustration of the woman on the package, I'd say they date to the 1960s.

Click for more detail...

16770

Franklin Covey Burgundy Wheeled Laptop Travel Case This nice piece of burgundy colored leather rolling carry-on luggage is from Franklin Covey. It has a wheeled bottom and an adjustable handle that collapses inside when not in use (the handle is not fully extended in the photo). It's an older, discontinued model, as evidenced by the detachable phone holder at one side, which is only about 2-1/2" wide and obviously meant for much smaller phones.

The large front pocket has a padded zippered cosmetic type bag and slots for pens, cards, and a calculator or other bulky item. The center zippered section is fully padded with a laptop protector and three deep, full length padded expanding pockets. Another zippered section has three padded full size pockets for files, notebooks, etc. The back zipper holds the carry handle.

The bag is 13 inches high total (not including the handles of course) by 16-1/2" wide by over 8 inches deep front to back when closed. Aside from a bit of dust in the crevices I didn't see until I took the closeup photos with bright flash, the case is very clean and in very good condition. However if you look closely at the last picture you'll see a small rub tear to the leather cording at the left bottom edge. There are a couple more to the cording at the upper back corners. I saw no other damage, scuffing, or wear.

16378

Pink Japanese Zori Sandals Original Box Plus Floral Fans A pair of vintage Japanese Zori sandals in their original box, likely from the 1960s. They are light pink vinyl, decorated with raised enamel painted mountain and flower motifs in brown, pink, red, and white. The labels on the bottoms say No. 16, possibly the Japanese shoe size. The sandals look to be about a size 6.5 (American) to me, at 9 inches long heel to toe by 3" wide and 2-3/8" high at the back heel.

The shoes have minor signs of prior wear, mostly to the soles. They were probably only worn once. The underside of the foot straps are lined with a soft beige velvety material for comfort. The paper shoe box is somewhat flimsy but intact. The only readable marking is on the bottom - Toashiko which is probably the manufacturer. Found inside the box with the sandals were two unused 6-1/2 inch black bamboo and silk folding fans with hand painted flower decoration. They will be included.

Click for more detail...

13642

Elegant 1960s White Faux Fur Capelet Stole Shrug I'm not sure of the proper terminology for this circa 1960 white faux fur wrap - whether it's a stole, cape, or shrug, but it's classy, retro, and gorgeous. The shoulders and upper back raise up to form a squared effect, tapering gracefully to a curved heart shape at the drop neckline.

The model wears a size 10 to 12. The cape measures 15 inches from the back center neckline to hem. Width across the lower back edge is 29-1/2 inches. The label reads "Fashioned by El Encore of Alatia by Alamac, Dynel and Verel Modacrylic Fiber, Clean By Fur Method Pat. Pend.". The lining is cream colored satin.

There are no tears or holes, but the cape is an estate item and the fur does have light soiling and should be cleaned. It hung in the original owner's closet for many years and picked up dust and household odors.

16335

Cowhide Leather Overnight Case Cosmetic Travel Suitcase This 1940s rectangular cow hide leather covered wood overnight case has no brand name, just the mark "Genuine Top Grain Cowhide" on the bottom and Made In U.S.A on the brass latches. It measures 13-3/4 by 9 inches and is 7-1/2 inches high. The interior is lined in tan quilted vinyl with a leather strap holder for bottles at the back wall (no straps though). The lid has a full glass mirror. A plain clear glass bead hat pin was found stuck into the vinyl below the mirror, which I left in place. The case has no structural issues, but it does have cosmetic wear to the edges and some nicks and scuffs here and there as shown in the photos. There is no key.

16878

Dazey Natural Wonder Salon Style Hair Dryer A vintage 1960s professional salon style 1400 watt hair dryer for the home with adjustable hood by Dazey, model HD-81. The domed lid is the hood, which attaches to the dryer unit and can be raised, lowered, and tilted for fit and comfort. The unit has four different heat settings and it works just fine. The unit is clean with no damage, and the 6-foot cord is supple with no issues. I doubt it was used more than a few times - the only some very light, minor storage scuffing to the exterior. The pod shape case is about 11 inches high by 14" diameter.

Click for more detail...

14536

Gene Autry 1940s Childs Cowboy Suspenders A set of woven elastic Gene Autry suspenders for little cowboys or cowgirls from the 1940s. They are maroon red with yellow, red, and orange images of Gene Autry, his horse Champion. The length-adjusting slides are adorned with metal revolvers. The nickel end clips are embossed with horse heads, and have a patent number dating to 1945 on the backs.

The suspenders are in very good condition for their approximately 75 year age. All four waistband clips work properly. The elastic is still stretchy and the colors don't seem faded much if at all. The undecorated elastic backs have some light soiling and one area of more substantial staining as shown in the next to last photo. Unstretched length about 24 inches including clips (they can be shortened via the pistol sliders).

13640

Mincara Faux Fur Honey Mink 3/4 Length Coat This 1960s faux fur honey mink coat is a Mincara by Russell Taylor. It has a notched collar, 3 front buttons, slash pockets, and bias cut sleeves.

The model wears a size 10 to 12 - I'm no size expert but I think it might fit a size 14. Measurements: 36 inches long at center back from top of collar to hem. Width across the back at underarm seams 25 inches. Sleeve length including shoulder from collar seam 26 inches.

There are no tears or holes, but the coat is an estate item and it does need to be cleaned. It hung in the original owner's closet for many years and picked up dust and household odors.

Click for more detail...

15522

Orna Wood Syroco Clipper Ship Tie Belt Rack This vintage molded wood-pulp wall mount necktie or belt rack was made by OrnaWood. I found an identical labeled rack online, but the label is missing on this one. At the top is a carved effect old fashioned clipper ship. At the bottom are eight hinged swinging metal holders, looped with a top foot to securely hold your ties and belts. The 6-5/8 inch high by 8" wide holder is in perfect condition, undoubtedly never used because one of the hanging holes is still filled in (it knocks out when you hammer in your screw or nail). There are no scratches, scuffs, or finish loss.

I'm convinced Orna Wood was a trade name for, or a division of Syroco (Syracuse Ornamental Company of New York). Many of their products are virtually identical, and both the Orna Wood and Syroco foil labels are very similar, even using the same fancy script font. Both companies were located in New York state.

16990

Colorful Tulips Holland Silk Scarf This beautiful 34 inch square silk scarf has a big spray of tulips on a gradient peach color background. The silk has a subtle striped weave. The word Holland is printed in script at one corner with the registered trademark symbol. I'm not sure if that refers to the designer or manufacturer, or if it was purchased or made in the Netherlands. There is no label. The scarf has no holes, tears, or snags, but I did notice a small 1/4" spot near one edge which may be a stain. The scarf has not been cleaned - I once ruined a silk scarf by hand washing, so I'm afraid to try that again.

16769

Genuine Alligator Leather Purse Handbag This real alligator leather purse is from the 1940s or early 1950s. It features a taxidermied baby alligator head with glass eyes and all four limbs (legs at the back). The handbag is somewhat square shape with double overlapping flap closures, one for each divided section of the interior. It measures 7-1/4 inches high by 9-1/4" wide. The bottom is 3" deep front to back. The strap is convertible to a longer shoulder strap. Snapped and doubled as shown, there's an 8 inch drop from the center top to the top flap of the purse.

The purse is clean inside and out. The interior has no tears, stains, or damage other than the tiny cracks at the uppermost fold edges (see last photo, far left and far right sides). The strap has one small partial tear to the upper layer that does not go all the way through or across. There is no damage to the exterior leather and the lacing is all intact.

15919

Siam Silver Metal Link Belt With Buckle 32 Inches This type of vintage silver belt was made in Southeast Asia from the 1930s through 1970s and is usually referred to as Siam Silver. The back of the buckle has an unreadable mark or logo and a stamped hallmark (last photo). The belt could be anything from 800 silver to sterling but it's definitely not plated.

The belt is 32 inches long by about 1-1/4" wide and has 24 S-scroll panel links, plus the ornate engraved oval buckle. In excellent condition with no damage. The belt is cleaner and shinier than my photos indicate due to poor lighting the stormy day I took the pictures.

Antique Floral Glass Beaded Fringed Handbag Purse This well-cared for purse has colorful seed bead floral wreaths on both sides with a background of black and clear beads. The bag is about 8 inches high from the simple brass frame to the beaded loop fringe, and 7-1/2" wide across the bottom. The strap consists of a tied length of old black velvet picot edged ribbon. The bag is lined in butter-soft golden tan leather with a side pocket. Small black stitches are visible just below the interior brass frame at one corner, possibly from a repair, however no damage or repairs are visible from the opposite side. Picture three shows a stray short thread near the upper right edge where there may be a missing or loose bead. I can find no other damage.

15677

National Rifle Association We The People NRA Lapel Pin This bronze colored metal (brass I think) lapel pin was sent to new members of the National Rifle Association in the late 1980s to early 1990s. I'm related to the owner and can attest to the age and fact that it's never been worn, though the original card has some wear from numerous moves and storage. The 3/4 inch pin has an embossed image of the signing of the Constitution of the United States with crossed flintlock pistols. In excellent condition with no damage or wear. Marked Made in USA.

Circa: 1990

Edwardian Wool Spats Unused in Original Box An Edwardian era boxed set of men's spats, unused in their original box. Made of dove gray wool, they have four buttons down one side and leather straps that buckle. The label on the box states the size as 7. The upper openings are 3-3/4" wide folded, length from heel to toe is about 8 inches. The spats are clean and obviously unworn. The box is intact but does show storage wear as shown, though not bad for being more than 100 years old.

Circa: 1910
