Tammy Clardy requested a recipe that used "frozen peas, water chestnuts, soy
sauce and maybe canned mushrooms." Here are several response that came in.

Since Tammy's request didn't mention any meat, rice or pasta, this may be what
she is looking for:


1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
1 can bean sprouts
1 sm. can water chestnuts, sliced
1 (6 oz.) can mushrooms
1 1/2 can mushroom soup
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 can French fried onions


Drain all vegetables and mix together with soup. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Put fried onions on top and bake 10 minutes more. Nancy Wilkes, Winnsboro, SC

I just found this on www.cdrecipes.com. It sounds like what she's looking for. I'm

PEAS WITH MUSHROOMS


2 C sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 C chopped onion
2 T butter
32 oz frozen peas -- thawed
8 oz can sliced water chestnuts -- drained and halved
1/4 C soy sauce


Directions:
In a large saucepan, saute mushrooms & onion in butter.
Add peas, water chestnuts and soy sauce.
Cook until heated through, about 10 mins. Serves 8

I thought this was such an unusual recipe that I did a search on the web and Lo' &
Behold, I actually found a recipe from a website called "The Practical Pantry", that


sounded just like what Tammy described. Hope this is it! -- Michelle H. - Senoia, GA


SOY-SAUCED PEAS


1 medium onion, chopped
2 4-ounce cans mushroom pieces and stems, drained
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 16-ounce packages frozen peas, thawed
1 8-ounce can sliced water chestnuts, drained and halved
3 tablespoons soy sauce


In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until onion
softens, about 3 minutes. Add mushrooms, peas, water chestnuts and soy sauce.
Cook until heated through, about 10 minutes. Makes 8 servings.
