Condition: Used Publisher: State Historical Society of Iowa
This May, 1971 issue of The Palimpsest magazine, published by the State Historical Society of Iowa, features the autobiographical reminiscences of Kendrick W. Brown, an Iowa Commercial Traveler in the second half of the 1800s.
Brown tells of his start in sales as a grocer in Ames; his work there in selling books; and his first week ‘on the road’ as a commercial hat salesman – resulting in 105 miles travel, six days of hard work, 13 towns, expenses of $35. and not a single order!
How he turned that failure around to become a highly successful commercial traveler throughout the state of Iowa and the experiences of other successful salespeople he met along the way complete the story.
The magazine includes some great black/white photos of Brown himself, as well as Iowa towns of the era as he saw them.
The issue is in Very Good condition with only minor corner wear to the covers and no apparent defects on inside pages. (4628)
