This is a nice clean tanged, flat, angular carving chisel with the old trade mark, and marked "W. MARPLES & CO. CAST STEEL". It's in good condition, sharp, but could use some honing before use, some edge rounding on the bottom surface starting at about 1/2" back from the present cutting edge. The handle is solid, nice brass furrule, no cracks, an owner's name neatly stamp on it. A good used 31/64" wide x 8" long carving chisel, by a well know English maker! |
